440 could probably get a gaming pc that can play games at console settings at 30-60fps
not sure since im an american though
managed to make a build for $272 (USD) though so it's probably possible with 440 pound |

got a build in pounds up
came to just under 240 pound and should play most modern games at console settings (or slightly higher, 1280x720 to 1600x900 and at medium to high settings) at around 30-60FPS
CPU: AMD A8-3870K 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (£69.94 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: MSI A55M-P33 Micro ATX FM1 Motherboard (£35.46 @ Scan.co.uk) Memory: Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1066 Memory (£17.51 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£40.14 @ CCL Computers) Case: Xigmatek Asgard II Black ATX Mid Tower Case (£28.31 @ Novatech) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply (£35.32 @ Scan.co.uk) Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer (£12.98 @ Scan.co.uk) Total: £239.66
uses linux or pirated windows, but seeing as steam is porting all games to linux it should be fine

@triop
minecraft can run well on a pentium 4, so definitely
gta: can handle 4 on medium (maybe custom settings somewhere between mid and high) at 720p (maybe 900p)
1990-2005: depends on the game i suppose, but it should have no problem |

considering the processor is much better as well as the (integrated) gpu, it will play infinitely better
(don't let the fact the gpu is integrated turn you off, amd's apus have very nice gpus) |
