I mean, it feels like rather than playing the game, the association just heard a short summary of it. Apparently, to them, Pokemon is dogfighting.
They need to realize that Pokemon enjoy fighting, fight for the glory of their trainers willingly, and are never injured beyond... Will, they get injured alot. Rock slides, tornadoes, (leaf) blades... They get injured a lot. You got me there, PETA. But they just faint and get healed in seconds for free. |

Pokemon is dogfighting
But PETA is a bunch of idiots whose opinion can and should be completely ignored. |

| You know, Pokemon battles are not dogfights. Dogfights involve loss of life and blood, and the dogs are being forced to fight. Pokemon has none of those factors. |

"fight for the glory of their trainers willingly"
Because a Pokemon fighting for it's freedom only to be captured due to how weak it is from attacks is totally willing.
I'm not saying PETA had the correct response and right to make the parody game, but Pokemon is pretty much simply dogfighting. |

pokemon may be dogfighting
but it's a game and it's fun. not really sure why anyone cares about morals in a video game anyway. |

| PETA are possibly trolls. Also, isn't it odd that they are about saving animals yet they kill hundreds upon hundreds upon HUNDREDS of them and throw them in a barrel? No siggy here. |

Pokemon is the worst possible sport you can think of, these animals are shocked with lighting, punched, hit with vines, burnt with flames, poisoned and more, all so the trainers can run around and get prize money and badges. Then thanks to the gotta catch em all motto, about 90 percent of the pokemon caught are stuffed in a small ball never to be used again.
Oh and let's not forget the wild pokemon who are left sitting in the mud by level grinding trainers, You didn't just knock the pokemon out, you just beat it to death and left it to suffer for the last remaining seconds of it's life. |

sigh
people always have to ruin fun things by bringing real life moralities and ethics into a made-up world which doesn't exist or have the same priorities/society as our world
pokemon =/= reality |

Your telling me that just because this is a childish video game, animal cruelty can be forgiven? Tell me, if you had a six year old son would you let him watch an R rated movie? No because it's inappropriate and will probably screw him up as an adult. Now if that movie kept the exact same content but just added a bunch of bright colours would you let him watch it?
Pokemon is a sin. |

"Pokemon is a sin."
I think you should be a PETA representative, since you're so irrational
Pokemon is not 'R-rated content' with bright colours, if R-rated is the equivalent to a cert-18 film over here in the UK, then it's the sort of film which includes blood, violence, gore, and other things of that nature?
Pokemon has no blood, no gore, and the worst violence you see is a sprite vibrate a bit. Before you pull this argument, there are no 'underlying themes', these are made up creatures which use made up talents to attack other made up creatures in a made up world which does not have real-world moralities or ethics
again, pokemon =/= reality |

If you take Pokemon, turn it into a live action movie and add features like blood it would be R for sure, Picture a typical pokemon fight in your mind right now? What do you do in one? Shoot fire? You just burnt the face off that pokemon, he is lying on the ground clutching his burning skin in agony. You poison him? He is struggling to stand up as the slow posion works his way through his body. I could go on and on.
Now tell my, why does pokemon get a free pass because it's a video game yet stuff like Grand theft auto, Hobo with a shotgun or other violent movies and games get a free pass? |

is any of this shown in the game? Is any of this described in the game?
for all we know, all the attacks could be illusions. For instance, all spells in Final Fantasy are illusions, the developers confirmed it. It's how they can fire planets at each other and not destroy everything

Haha, I play my trump card. Watch the Pokemon episode battle of the badge. In it Ash goes to a special tournament that have slightly different rules, the trainer of the pokemon feels all the pain the Pomemon does, by the end Ash is on the ground in complete pain, if all battles were like this people wouldn't be so ready to put their pokemons lives at risk so they could earn some quick cash.
No need to be overly religous.
I'm Agnostic. It's simply a figure of speech. |

you're still ignoring my other point
where is it said that they get their faces burnt off? Where is it said that they die a slow and agonizing death from poison? Where is it even implied?
the most they show is an animation and a vibrating sprite
what is your problem |

| Just because they don't show it happening doesn't mean it doesn't happen. But I don't see why a game needs to have graphic violence to be inappropriate, shouldn't the fact these Pokemon are being forced into fighting so the trainer can get cash bad enough? |

"shouldn't the fact these Pokemon are being forced into fighting so the trainer can get cash bad enough?"
the usual age range of people who play Pokemon do not understand underlying themes
people above that age range do not care about underlying themes and want to play a game about fighting imaginary creatures
I really don't see the problem |
