Since my ASRock Z77 Pro4 was DOA I got an MSI Z77A-G41 instead for $40 (Sweet deal.).
Specs are: CPU: Intel i5 3570K RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport HDD: 1TB GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6770 1GB PSU: Thermaltake TR2 600W Case: Thermaltake V4 Black Edition Keyboard: Microsoft X4 Sidewinder Mouse: Logitech G500 Monitor: 20" 1600x900, soon mounting my 22" 1920x1080 Acer
Anyway, when I started the system up all of my fans spun at max speed. I know this is to prevent overheating upon startup but I want to know if it is completely safe to leave it on while the POST goes on.
If you can help me out I'd appreciate it. Thanks. |

| Not entirely sure what you're asking there but it will take more than a few seconds for your pc to overheat from startup. You won't even need max fanspeed under load to keep yours within a decent temperature so don't worry about it. |

| The fans are all on max speed because the default BIOS setting for fans is full on, its safe to take them almost to halt while idle. |

Bump, I went ahead and turned my system on. It's been POSTing for over a minute now.
I'll do a clean install of Win7 today as well.
Also, my CPU cooler is a Xigmatek SD963 Loki 92mm with some Arctic Silver 5 applied to the CPU. |

Basically I let it run, but there was no display on my monitor.
I assume that's the problem. The monitor is on as well so I'm sure. |

Well that is definitely a sign of a problem.
Check if your RAM is correctly emplaced, your GFX card is seated properly and mobo, CPU and GFX card have power cables attached.
You did use standoffs right? |

CPU and GPU cables are snug, as well as the RAM sticks. I didn't get any caution beeps upon starting up as I said, so GPU and RAM should be just fine.
And yes, I've always had my standoffs attached.
Should I connect my DVI cable to another port on the GPU. There are two DVI, a DisplayPort, and HDMI, the last two I can't use with my monitor. |

Tried the second DVI; no avail.
I'm gonna pull out my other monitor (22" 1920x1080) and see if I can get a display on it. |

600W seems a bit overkill. I only need around 485W (iirc) for my i3-2100 + 6870.
Also the 6770 seems a bit underkill for your processor, but I suppose that's forgivable since you've had it longer than the build.
Only other criticism is the keyboard. Sidewinders are hella' expensive for a membrane/rubber dome keyboard. May I ask how well it performs compared to a standard $10 keyboard? (if you have one on hand, that is)
Nice build all around though. |

I got the 600W from Best Buy when I didn't have much knowledge on builds.
As for the 6770, I plan on upgrading to a 7850 when I have the money.
I guess you can say I got the Sidewinder because I was tired of my OEM keyboards that collect sweat and gunk like a sponge. I don't regret buying it, it's a nice KB. |

| Try removing the GPU and using the motherboard's graphics. Your GPU may have went kaput. |

Since we're on this topic can someone help me out real quick with a hard drive issue?
Replaced my hard drive but had no internet because I didn't have a driver installed. Switched computers and downloaded Realtek Ethernet Diagnostic Utility driver for my motherboard model onto a flashdrive and installed it into my computer with the new hard drive.
didn't work. need help |

@ meldo
I'll try that out. Just in case I'm going to dust and re-thermal my GPU; it's way overdue. |

| When I build a PC, I'm going to go for a Bitfenix Prodigy case. |
