@WhenDeathComes2:
The verb "bastardize" means to corrupt something, like a language, for example.
It's not offensive unless you think that if the root of a word is offensive, so is every derivative. Do you consider "heck" offensive because it's from the word "hell?" What about "darn" or "dang" because they're from the D-word? How about "frick?" They're all derived from more offensive words, yet no one would give a second glance when compared to their originals. |

it's the change of usage
similar ideas could be seen from g=a=y, q=ueer, etc. both have their original meanings, and have adopted new ones.
in the case of bastard, it's original meaning was not to be offensive. however it has since grown into being essentially an act of 'profanity'.
i understand what the original meaning of bastard is

| I meant that more along to the lines of, "It's possible that bastard is not filtered because of the use of its verb equivalent." |

""It's possible that bastard is not filtered because of the use of its verb equivalent.""
i suppose it is, but essentially for a target audience where a great portion of the forumers here would have no idea of the meaning / wouldn't use it in that way, it seems kind of odd
