[-1-] Purpose of the DoJ and Justice Reform
The main goal of the DoJ and the Justice Reform is to ensure all cases in UCR are held appropriately. When one is accused, they have the right of questioning and defending themselves before being held accountable for something they may or may not have done. Justice is essential for the building blocks of UCR, because it helps maintain a better environment for the members as a whole. The Department of Justice is meant to ensure justice while maintaining efficiency in UCR. Without this department, UCR would crumble.
[-2-] How the Justice System Runs
Various convictions can get you different levels of punishment. Some of these convictions include treason, flaming, abusing, doing business outside of your department, exploiting, blackmailing, etc. These and more can be accused by members outside of the department, but all cases must be reported to the DoJ immediately. If the case is severe, report immediately to the Director of Justice. Minor cases like flaming can be handled by assistants. Anything of Severity 3 or below will be handled by a meeting with the DoJ, Director of Internal Affairs, the one accused, and the accuser. Anything of Severity 4 or above will include all of those people, plus a jury.
[-3-] Responsibilities and Requirements of the DoJ
The DoJ must be able to deal with all jury cases withheld in UCR. Holding this position means you look into questionable situations and conclude if there are suspicious actions taking place. The DoJ must conclude every case in an objective view. The DoJ is not allowed to, in any way, disregard cases or specific evidence against a person if they are a friend. Doing so will have your status of DoJ revoked, and you will be put on your OWN review.
[-4-] Rights of Those Accused If you are accused of a wrongdoing in UCR, you have the utmost right to voice your opinion before any action is taken against you. You have the ability to provide any information that may be missing in someone else’s story, and provide proof against what the accuser has to say. No punishments will be put against anyone without a fair review, and everyone in UCR has the right to one.
[-5-] Actions Taken Against Those Found Guilty
Specific actions will be taken against those who are found guilty of a crime. Punishments will be given due to the severity of a crime. If the action is found to be on the extreme side, that person will be permanently banned from UCR. All other punishments may be a suspension from a rank, a permanent demotion, a temporary demotion, or a warning. All actions have consequences, so don’t make poor ones resulting in having your rank revoked.
[-6-] Powers of the President in the Justice System The President at ANY time has complete and utter power to punish someone in any way they choose, without a trial or any affiliation with the DoJ/justice system. ┌─┐ ┴─┴ ಠ_ರೃ deal with it
[-7-] Offences
The following actions will cause you to have investigation/possible trial due to severity. -Spamming or misusing the wall for non-UCR related purposes -Admin abusing -Perjury -Flaming and/or disrespecting superiors or other members -Voting Fraud -Treason -Admin attacking -Bribery -Rebellious actions -Sabotage of any form More offenses could be named against you, they are not all on here.
Consequences that will be taken against you, due to certain action/severity:
Severity 1 Consequences: [1a] Demotion of 1 rank [If Officer or above, rank demotion will be debateable] [1b] Warning/Reminder of CoC and Justice Department consequences [1c] 24 Hour Suspension from current rank (If Officer+) or from rank you will be. [For example, if you are L9 and break a severity 1 rule, you will be suspended for 24 hours, then put at L8 until you re-earn your rank again].
Severity 2 Consequences: [2a] 1-2 rank demotion [If Officer+, rank demotion will be decided by peers and fellow HRs] [2b] 1-3 day suspension Severity 3 Consequences: [3a] If Officer, Captain, or Philosopher, you will be kicked back down [If Officer, L9. If Captain/Philo, Officer] and forced to re-take examination again, keeping in mind of your past infractions. [3b] 1-7 day suspension of rank [3c] 2-3 rank demotion [Like above, depending on rank, different rank demotion punishments] [3d] If H1, demotion to Mx will be in place
Severity 4 Consequences: [4a] Suspension of rank, ranging from 1 week+, depending on actions taken by those found guilty [4b] Demotion 1 rank down if Mx+ [4c] Likely possible investigation to see if other infractions have been made [4d] Possible permanent ability to become a HR ever again
Severity 5 Consequences: [5a] Definite demotion down [amount decided by the DoJ] [5b] Suspension of rank, ranging from 2+ weeks, depending on actions [5c] Possible exile from UCR [This exile may be temporary or permanent. If temporary, will most likely cause person from ever receiving a rank of power again].
[-8-] Appeal Process
If the following person accused of not following the rules provided believes that they are falsely accused of something, you are permitted to give an appeal to the Director of Justice. After that, the DoJ is required to investigate more into the person’s false claim, and try to iron out any flaws that may be seen in the evidence. If the appeal goes through successfully, the trial may repeat and any new information will be shown upon the jury. From that point forward, the jury and DoJ will make their new and final decision based on the new evidence provided. If the appeal is declined, your punishment will stay as originally given. If more legitimate evidence begins to be found, you may re-submit an appeal process. All appeal processes must have AT LEAST a 2 week gap, unless stated otherwise by the DoJ or President of UCR.
[-9-] Code of Conduct
In UCR, cooperation and abiding by guidelines is an essential part of our clan striving. This will give a basic overview of things you must follow.
[1:] RESPECT/HONOUR In any clan these two factors are absolutely key. In UCR, we strive for positive outcome, and both respect and honour help us strive efficiently and positively. [1a] All members are expected to provide positive energy towards one another, and towards allies as well. Flaming in any way is not tolerated. [1b] All members who are in a disagreement are required to handle it in a mature way, without flame and or cussing involved. [1c] During any UCR event, ALL members are expected to be mature and patient as the instructor gives orders. [1d] If presenting an idea to the group, it must be conveyed in a positive energy, no flame will be tolerated against the shield.
[2:] EQUALITY In UCR, it is very important that everyone is given equal opportunity to earn ranks and participate in activities. In a follow up to section one, equality helps us run efficiently. [2a] There are to be absolutely zero auto-promotions given unless said otherwise by the President and only the President. [2b] There are to be zero bias decisions made by anyone in UCR. [2c] All members are granted the right to debate against an idea - however there is to be no flaming, and should be done in a calm environment. [2d] Under no circumstance may an admin join a place and abuse his/her powers without permission from the instructor. This includes teleport/me, ff/me, m/, etc.
[3:] GENERAL KNOWLEDGE General knowledge can also be seen as “common sense”. General knowledge is a basic review of rules. - Training [3a] All members at an event are asked to follow orders, and are asked not to act obnoxious or immature during any event. The required behavior will be determined by the instructor. [3b] No member is granted permission to ask for a promotion - they are earned.
- Common Sense [3a] There are no be no arguments including - “it isn’t on the code of conduct, I don’t have to do it”. Use your brain and be reasonable about what is right and wrong. The Code of Conduct does not cover every piece of information, and it is requested you use your common sense before doing any action that could potentially harm UCR, or upset members.
-Extra Information For High Ranks New members join UCR every day, so they may be unsure about the rules. If they accidentally break one of these rules, please give them a friendly warning, link them to this thread, and move on with whatever you’re doing. Everyone makes mistakes.
Punishments will be ordered by UCR’s Director of Justice and/or the President.
As soon as a member joins UCR, everybody automatically has certain rights and freedoms. Things that you CANNOT get demoted/questioned/put on trial for:
-Constructive criticism -Conflicting opinions -Respectfully correcting someone about the CoC -Speaking out against others, as long as it is not flaming and done appropriately -Reporting misbehaving HRs -Misconceptions on anything whatsoever [However, any dishonesty found will have actions taken against you] -Respectfully questioning motives of other people
Rights that you have: -Right to have reasoning of why you were demoted -Right to speak out opinions without harassing another member -Right to seek any information about UCR [As long as not classified] -Right to give suggestions/constructive criticism to HRs so they can better themselves in the fields they work in
[-10-] Ending Statement
Thank you for reading the Dept. of Justice reform! Hopefully this gives you a better understanding of the Dept. of Justice and how it is run. This has been written to ensure everybody’s rights in UCR, no matter what rank you hold. As UCR, we are family, and all members will be treated equally. Please regard back to this thread if there are any rights, law, or rules you are unsure of within this document. All other questions, tips, constructive criticism, or concerns may come into my inbox. Anything that you would like cleared up or addressed may as well come to me, the DoJ, or anyone in authority who has vast knowledge on the Department of Justice. For the shield!
