STORY:

The anniversary of the 500th year since the New World was created was met with the same sense of alienation that it always has.

Not even the emotion-less Mechanica could forget how it was; Land giving way, splitting as continents were fragmented and tossed to the sky. The underbelly of the world, miles under the sky land, still writhes as an infernous hell-scape that serves as a grim reminder of the past that was.

The various races and cultures of the old world struggled to survive in their new enviroment, the vast majority of them dying out in a year. It is not uncommon to find entire floating islands that are completely devoid of life; Cold graves to those who could not adapt. Those that stuck to tradition quickly found themselves dead. But those who embraced their new lives exploited and made good of their situation. So harsh was this new world, that out of the thousands of races that thrived on the ground, only four survived.

Four distinct cultures, different in ideal but alike in survival instinct, plotted out the maps and charts and settled the newborn world like pioneers and explorers of old. Humanity made it through adaptability, and their willingness to forsake the ways of old. The Mechanica survived through rigid adherence through their protocol and methods, 1-dimensional thinking that was at times as hostile and impersonal as the broken land around them. The Deci had help via divine intervention; The destruction of their old way of life was just another one of the Gods' tests. Perhaps most carefree of the four, the Rebels' ever-changing doctrine and raw ambition of survivinal and thriving within the impossible had made them a plentiful challenge to the other three.

As time passes on, this small handful of nations, collectives and tribes will have to stand the test of time as they learn that the greatest threat is not the surroundings they have already mastered, but the waltz through barely-kept alliances and shifting pacts that are an omen to the wars borne from unchecked grudges and uneasy peace.

RACES:

HUMANS: The inhabitants of the New World are now a far cry from their ancestors, 500 years ago. The Humans, once the undisputed conquerors of the planet, have since had their supremacy challenged in recent years. Though just as adaptable, they are no longer unified; Rather, they are as fractured as the land itself. They are defined as being quick learners, decent in magics, and being the most populous of all the races. However, they lack the ability of truly mastering skills to the extent of the Deci's arcane abilities or the Mechanica's bewildering steam and clockwork designs. The human skyships mirror their creators; Highly versatile and suited for virtually any task, though not well known for being particularlly good at anything.

MECHANICA: The Mechanica were originally servants of humanity, the brain-child of genius human engineers who made machines built for menial labour as well as personal bodyguards. Most are humanoid in design, though there are some exceptions. Even after being seperated from their masters to form their own society, they are still amongst the most successful races. With engineering that is second to none, enough knowledge in minerals and prospecting to fill 10 libraries and all manner of ranged rifles and advanced cannons. Their mechanical form still ensures that they need relatively little to survive, and their practical mindset ensures that they never squabble amongst themselves. However, their blessings are almost always double edged blades; Due to their mechanical form, they've no magical ability what so ever, they are quite vunerable to the elements, and they are few in number due to the fact that they must build themselves from scratch. Mechanica skyships are more like small islands; Gigantic fortresses. Purely utilitarian designs make them appear more as cities than skyworthy vessels. A cornucopia of cannons and other mechanical weapons ensure that firepower is to the absolute extreme. However, their ponderous nature often leaves them inaccurate to fire and slow to move.

DECI: With cultural roots in religious doctrine unmatched by any other faction, the Deci are something of spiritual successors of their origins as pagan forest elves. As one of the founders of magica, they are versed in more spells and rituals than any other race. As well, their society's rigid caste and unswaying obedience to their faith ensures that their culture can survive through even the toughest of times. However, this government is not without its flaws. The status quo can sometimes be too prevalent for their own good, as the preservation of their ways often come before practical measures. As well, they disapprove of technology to some extent, preferring the art that they have mastered themselves. Their skyships are magnificently decorated - It's not uncommon for veterann ships to be adorned with an abundance of holy statues and stylistic trim, all with a false-gold lining so that they last in combat. Though able to dish out tremendous amounts of firepower with the use of spells, their lack of protection or armour is a serious downfall.

TRIBALS: The Rebels were originally outcasts from the old human empires, who eventually devolved into tribal groups that eventually included many different species, living a nomadic lifestyle. They are athletic and agile peoples, with fearsome endurance to pain, despite their often malnurished and fragile bodies. Their combat prowess is renowned, with their ingenuity serving them well in battle and out- Tribals are well known for making makeshift, disposable tools to suit their needs. However, with their disunified and primitive nature, they have an aversion to making technology and dabbling in magic; Though they will willingly steal from other races, they will never make an invention of their own. Tribal warships are often simply bolted together, made from pieces of other race's ships. Despite this, their ships are often fast, and strike with equal pace and agility to make any captain's head spin.

Name: Mont Lynch
@ge: 29
Gender (Leave blank if Mechanica): Male
Race: Tribal human.
Items (No weapons yet): A torch, a collection of pencils, and a small book with a black leather cover, and the cargo on his skyship- Though he doesn't carry that with him, of course.
Status: Merchant.
Skyship (If any): Bolter
Appearance: Mont wears a small necklace, made out of various, different coloured beads. He claims this necklace is lucky, though doesn't know why. His head is shaved completely bald, though his black eyebrows show the colour of his hair. He has dull green eyes, which do not stick out much from his fair skinned face. He wears a dull green vest, made of a poor quality felt. His linens are of a similar colour and a similar material. He does not wear any socks or shoes, instead going barefooted.
Personality: Opportunistic, sharp, and most of all placid.
Bio: Mont was born into a small, hunter tribe. He spent most of his child life hunting and trapping the local birds, and eventually the local foxes. He has become quite adept at skinning and hunting animals, and eventually decided to make a living off it; At 20, he built a small airboat and went about selling the pelts and meats of animals he had killed. Eventually he became a general merchant, selling to various different ships and towns. Though years of trading may of dulled his instinct somewhat, he is still a competent fighter and hunter, though finds that others from his tribe often outmatch him in ability. Nonetheless, he has continued his trading lifestyle and still continues to this day.
Other: Nothing really to say.

SKYSHIP SHEET:

Name: Bolter
Classification (Cruiser, barge etc): Merchant barge.
Size (Less than 100m for now): 50 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 30 feet tall.
Appearance: The ship is an amalgamation of various different components from various ships, as all tribal ships are. It is painted a bright yellow, and is not adorned with any skulls or other trophies to show it's merchant nature. The ship has a generally slender form, allowing it to move quickly.
Armaments: Other than a small self defense cannon, nothing.
Faction of origin: Tribal, though of course built from various different parts from different factions.

Sorry about the late reply, I'll hold the rungs over world events for now but I'll switch to a Mechanica engineer once we have enough people)

(If that is the case, could I be on the same boat too? Figuratively and literally

It sort of depends on the faction the human is in; Tribals have a very good standing with the Mechanica and vice versa, not so much for the Empire

Any ways, it is allowed for now; Are we going with a combat cruiser or something else?)

(They really don't think in the same way that others do (IE, they're not really protective of their skill or anything)

At the same time, they won't teach you about their stuff because it would be a waste of their time so unless you say you're going to directly benefit their existence you aren't going to learn a thing from them

Inversely, if you said you were a freelance cultist then the Deci are going to shun you before you even step out of magic academy)

Name: Marlon Jones

@ge (No more than 200 for now, less if human or tribal): 32
Gender (Leave blank if Mechanica): Male
Race: Human
Items (No weapons yet): A pocket notepad and a pen, a belt satchel full of tools and various small parts, a water container small rations of food.
Status (Captain, officer, etc): Engineer/Mechanic
Skyship (If any): Whoever pays.

Appearance: Marlon is quite a stout fellow, given his age. Living on a cramped airship does give you a slight hunch, anyway he has rather bedraggled hair, sitting on his head in the most unusual ways, its also mostly grease and oil there, but you couldn't tell it apart because of the darkness of it. His eyes also match. Living with not much natural light most days has given him a pale skin complexion, with dirty blotches of oil and lubricant dotted around. As for his clothes he wears a open necked white shirt which is foolish given the conditions, over this he wears brown overalls with a large pocket in the front and with a belt tied loosely around the waist. Even below this continues the brown overalls, eventually tucked into heavy steel capped boots. Sometimes when working in dangerous or dirty environments he dons a pair of circular goggles tinted red and a simple mouth rag.

Personality: As you would expect for any engineer, Marlon is a handyman, able to repair or create contraptions from mere scrap metal, so you could say he was rather intelligent too, only in his field. Apart from his job he enjoys the company of himself, toiling away in the depths of a ship for hours on end you have to get used to the sound of your own voice. However he does occasionally socialise with other crew members, even if they are of other backgrounds and races.

Bio (At least 1 decent paragraph): Marlon was born in an industrial town, the centre for his fascination with mechanical items. He watched the mechanica's slave away in his fathers factory that he owned. One fateful day the factory suffered a major 'accident' and the place burnt to the ground, with marlons father still inside. Some say it was a mechanica uprising but there was no full inquest into it. Marlons mother was stricken with grief and soon fell terribly ill due to stress. Later passing away due to heart complications. However Marlon had watched the mechanicas enough hours of almost every day to know a basic amount of mechanics. From here he learned, reading books and studying and gained multiple jobs on shipping companies and learnt on the job. Ever since he has been hopping from ship to ship, getting paid and moving onto the next ship.

Other: Holds a slight grudge against Mechanica's, he thinks they are to blame for his fathers death.

('Clothing' is really unnecessary, since they are basically just machines

Though in some cases, battle-design Mechanica will wear armour for the sake of extra protection and in that they can easily be replaced without having to take out their shell. Efficiency everywhere)

(In the beginning, they were basically just meant to be the lowest rungs of society so clothing as a mark or status or whatnot really wasn't necessary since their metal bodies were usually sufficient protection against elements (Of course, not meant for extremes but you get the deal)

As a side note, they don't feel resentment for their master in any way or form since they had the pleasure of being non-sentient back then (And still, to this day, relatively socially illiterate))

(Ok...so what would an appearance usually be of a Mechanica? I mean, they have the metal humanoid bodies, but.....
Eh it's kinda hard to explain. We know they have different appearances and what not since some are made for battle, which calls for armor and whatnot....

I guess what I'm getting at is, for different types, are different appearances? EX: Social communications are more humanoid, battle have more....war like appearances....)
