About to get off and replace my mobo and CPU, as well as install a new version of Windows 7.
Anyway, I got an Intel i5 3570k, Xigmatek SD-963 Loki CPU Cooler, and an ASRock Z77 Pro4. I nabbed some Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound and two sticks of 4GB 1600MHz Crucial Ballistix.
Waiting on my friend to bring over his Win7 disc and maybe even help me out in putting these parts in if he doesn't have any time on his hands.
Wish me luck.

They are pretty easy to insert but if you are doing it first time, meh.

Installing LGA 1155 processors is a cakewalk. I think my only challenges will be installing the motherboard and cooler.

@ Cat
Ew, I hate jumbled up cables.
Stock yourself up on cable ties and go nuts.

Remember standoffs, use high % alcolol to clean off the stock thermal gunk and dont fry anything

I leave the case open for proper air cooling.

I'm pretty sure the stock thermal paste isn't pre-applied; but in case it is, what specific alcohol would be the most useful?
And leaving the case open brings in more dust, once I move my system into my room I'm going to take a lot more measures to keep the inside cool.

Disregard my advice, the stock gunk is applied on the stock HSF not the CPU, i had a brain fart, but anyways 80 to 90 percent (180 proof?) isopropyl alcohol is best

Thought for a second you were talking about the stock HSF; like hell I'm using that.
There's probably some isopropyl alcohol lying around in my parents' bathroom somewhere.

This cooler produces cold air which somewhat pushes its out with its own fan from the below and it constantly blows at GPU so it would also get some kind of cooling. *cant explain*
@Boost
Dust doesn't matter, you can always blow it away and leaving case opens gives more air ways. And if problems occur, you have instant access into your computer. |

I'll consider it; I'd like to keep my 6770 a little cooler at times.
I forgot to add, I also have a Corsair SP120 from Fry's. Since I can't attach it to the 92mm heatsink would it be best if I just put it in the front fan grill?
I also have a rear 120mm exhaust grill (there is already a fan here), two 120mm top fan grills, and one bottom 120mm fan grill used to cool the GPU as well; two latter do not have fans.

I recommend that you have front intake and back exhaust with the CPU fan blowing in the direction of the back exhaust. If you are worried about your GPU you could put a bottom intake fan.

GPU temperature idles at 49 Celsius, usually when I play a game that isn't Source or an older game it only rises a few degrees.
I think I should look at some 120mm fans for the bottom intake.
