Flattening your layers will be most helpful to prevent people from removing the watermark off your splashes.
It's possible in Photoshop and PDN as I tested. |

| Very true. It's easy to do in Paint.net and it's necessary if you want to make it a PNG. |

Sony Vegas Adobe After Effects Flash Professional Boujou Cinema4D 3DSMax Paint.NET Photoshop
Some of them aren't for image making, though. |

A .png image does not have layers.
That's only for .pdn files. |

You didn't get what I just said.
You flatten your layers BEFORE you save it as a .png image. |

| In Paint.NET it does it automatically when you save as a .png. You can't save the file as a .png with lots of layers. |

When you save it as a .png it asks you if you want to Flatten your image.
The other way is to merge all your layers down and then save it as a .png. |

| You don't have to get CS6. But I think you can still flatten with CS5. |
