The U.S. Military is better then the French Military, yet we can not win in Afghanistan.
So i am just assuming that they will not have good success in a smaller country with a higher moral. Because, it has been that way for us since, Vietnam. |

There is no war in Afghanistan. They are cooperating with the Afghan government to fight aganist the terrorists. And terrorist organisations dont get disbanded that easily. Considering Afghanistan's neighbors (Pakistan, Iran etc.) there will be more radical islamists entering afghanistan to fight all ISAF forces in the area (Not just USA).
And i would like to add this, there is a civil war in Mali. there isnt much moral in this since the country is split in half. In Afghanistan the terrorists fight for their beliefs.(However for their leaders, religion is a cover for running guns and selling illegal substances.) |

We are fighting terrorist in Afghanistan. We can not beat them. We just go where ever we think there are terrorist. We haven't won it has been a bigger embarrassment then Vietnam was.
Either way the terrorist have already won. |

Military failure in Afghanistan is inevitable we will be forced to exit with disgrace. You have to ask yourself who here has the moral high ground? People fighting to liberate their country or the invaders? The question answers itself.
Not to mention that this war goes against our founding principles. Intervention and rule by the British is something we hated and it sparked a revolution. Is it not the same over in Afghanistan? Are they not fighting to get rid of foreign occupation? They never attacked us before. Even Osama Bin Laden stated that was one of the reasons for 9/11.
What kind of war is this anyways? Nation building, Social engineering etc etc this is a war our military did not train for. Nobodies military can ever train for a war like this. Hence military victory in Afghanistan is illusive.

@gamert:
Insurgents in Kandahar are fleeing their country for Pakistan and India because of the military success we've been having since 2011. Again, you don't even have an opinion about the discussions in WWC, you just want to sound like you know what you're talking about so you can be relevant in the conversation.
Second of all, The US military is superior to the French military for many reasons, but our defense budget and our numerical advantage is key. If we had the same budget and population, we'd probably be pretty equal if not inferior to the French military thanks to its superior tacticians who are experienced far beyond most generals and colonels in the US army. However, I do not believe the French will be stopped in Mali. Mali has been war torn by recent rebellions and will be easy to attack and annex. |

Actually it's Islamic extremist rebels in the north they are pushing out.
Before anyway cries that people are being nice to France in letting them come into the country and mean to USa, the African Union ASKED France to go into Mali, and as the UNSC voted for authorizing an intervention, they are going in.
also thepitt, just because France did not support the far right likud government in Israel on Palestine does not mean they are pro Islamic extremists. |

@Kurath I brought up the fact, that we can not defeat them in Afghanistan. So i do not see this going very well either. So what i wrote is relevant.
Also if you did not notice I was speaking directly on Afghanistan because, it is impossible to win there. Whether you like it or not we simply can not win there it is against what we stand for.
It is ironic that you call me stupid when you can not understand what I am actually talking about.
Also, I said that the U.S. was superior i do not need a lecture on the reasons why. |
