I have come up with the idea for a new type of RP. An NERP, which stands for Never Ending Role Play. How it works:
Lets take a fantasy world that I have just made up to use as an example. In it, all the generic fantasy creatures live there, along with a few others that I can't think of right now. Now, in this fantasy world, the evil warlock is locked away in his mountain, and the three gates haven't weekened at all. You will RP in the day-to-day scenarios that the people will encounter until someone is enough of an idiot to join and release the warlock.
You have no objective other than the ones that you give yourselves, but to make these things interesting, wars will come and go between the seven kingdoms, and you can sign up for the army, start travelling, or whatever you feel like.
You can apply this to any world, be it a steampunk or a fantasy, a sci-fi or a historical. Not just the world that I suggested. Besides, you can do all sorts of things WITHOUT opening up the three gates or whatever it is in your fantasy world, without starting a giant war between large interplanetry alliances, etc. |

| Also, you can use the three gates and the seven kingdoms and stuff in your own RP, I don't really care. It was for demonstrational purposes only, when I made it. |

| As stated, this isn't new. It's a common theme in those big space RPs. |

Two things to mention to bebi:
The first is that I don't consider autism an insult, nor is it a disease. Of course, why would I bother telling that to an average person like bebi? (Bebi, you haven't even earnt the right of becoming a propper noun XD). The second is that I'm new to the forums, clearly haven't been here in '09 and don't read the old archived files. Even if I did, I wouldn't consider it plagarism, more of a revival. |

| Bebi (start of a sentence, not a propper noun) is not the topic of this thread, what do you like of my NERP idea? |

| Also, Shadow, I mean like controlling one character, as in a normal RP, and not a civilisation, like what you get in certain threads. And I have a PP for a collab that I'm making using this style, if anyone other than bebi wants to participate (he earnt that, you know it, I know it, don't deny it.) |

yeah this really isn't new, sorry man
it just doesn't pop up a lot because, in all reality, it's not a good way to handle a thread and a lot of people aren't interested in it
most town rps are like this and those typically work the best as most have an understanding of what to do since they already experience it, although, even those get boring without a plot
you see, the thing with having something like this is you need to get people a way to come together, or else they'll never talk to anyone at all. a lot of roleplayers never bother to have their characters interact as they are usually anti-social, perhaps like themselves. in an open-world rp it would be a mess of people wandering around, just never knowing what to do and what's ok without the guidance of the op.
also, in fantasy and sci-fi, you would need to know enough about the world created by the op in order to roleplay it accurately and some people just don't think its worth to take the risk and sit around or (rarely) they'll ask.
tl;dr not the best idea and its been done before |
