We would have a colony on moon in 10 years, a mars landing within 15 years and begin testing warp drive (Which Nasa is ACTUALLY WORKING ON:http://io9.com/5963263/how-nasa-will-build-its-very-first-warp-drive) witin like, 30 years.
Of Course, only the military really gets funding, can't have science funded. |

that's a pitiful amount, considering that Canada cold spend that much and STILL be spending less then 10% of the budget on it.

As nice as it would be to spend on NASA, we need to fix the debt first.

It's not a matter of "Fix the debt first"
It's a matter of is 5%, or heck, even the 4% average that got Nasa to the moon, worth falling behind by YEARS?

It is R&D not a luxury it's a necessary investment on technology as history proves over and over if if you don't prioritize technology, you die first.

Is it worth being advanced space wise and going further bankrupt? We can not worry about Nasa till we fix the debt with spending cuts, less regulations, more production and less government intervention.

That 5% extra is not goning to cause any bankruptcy, other things like the bloated military can be cut.

There are portions of the military that can be cut with little effect, as for deployments, There is no need for bases in Germany, for example.

Exactly and if you cut 5% of the military, you can get all I said in the original post.

Yes but, Obama and his staff will never do it. They just are expanding it. They are also expanding the deficit with the fiscal cliff deal. So we can see how well the take spending cuts.

To be honest, as long as you advocate with anyone you talk with for a 5% portion of the budget going to NASA, I am fine with your other views.

My father is an employee of NASA, and as such I cannot participate in objective discussion. I obviously have a vested interest in giving it more money.
Damn you, Keynes. |

You do make a good point here, but don't you think maybe we could pause for a bit while we are ahead and focus on our economics?
