I keep hearing about these supposed "hack engines" that script kiddies use to hack games. Is there anyway to combat these to avoid things like people changing stats(Which is an issue in DP games), I was thinking that there would have to be some sort of footprint coming from the client to do such a think. Also, My poor off topic forum, it was too young to die, WHY! I can take solace in the fact that it lasted ten minutes. |

| Most likely these 'hack engines' are Cheat Engine and nothing to really worry about. |

| Well it still annoys me that anyone would use them, it is like using an aimbot, what is the point in playing the game if you aren't playing the game. |

I personally see why people would do it having spent lots of time on PvP servers :P You want to be better than the other people. Three thing can make you better: Luck, Skill, and Help. 'Help' is normally easier and thus used allowing them the false victory over the others that were playing on an uneven playing-field.
I apologize if that made no sense... |

| mhm, some people enjoy winning more than playing the actual game itself. |

| It makes perfect sense, but I still feel that it is a stupid thing to do. |

I belong to a third party; one that enjoys finding the loopholes and creating 'new' ways to do things. I don't very often but I have a fair share of loopholes for MC.
Winning < Playing The Game == Creative Thinking With The Game

| I'm fine with finding loopholes for the sake of it, or to pwn a noob or two, but some people *Cough* COD players *Cough* seem to like whinning more than playing the game. Then again that may be because most of them sound like they are eight over the mic. Personally I just think there is a lack of logic behind some hacking. |

| I couldn't care less about winning, I just don't like losing because of processor speed. |

| Enlighten me? The problem is, overall I don't have very good equipment, especially for FPS gaming. Heck, I should get around to uninstalling such. |

I don't store values in the leaderstats, I use those to display the score. E.g.
local stats={coolness=8999} --assume NumberValue 'coolness' in player.leaderstats exists
Trollside script: lololololo
Troll.leaderstats.coolness=999999999999999999999999999
server:
if stats.coolness>9000 then print'IT'S OVER 9000!' else print'No' end
instead of
if player.leaderstats.coolness.Value>9000 then print'IT'S OVER 9000!' else print'No' end
Enter metatables to change the leaderstat when the value is changed :D |
