A long time ago, a kingdom was on brink of losing a crucial war. Their cities were already captured, the citizens dead or forced into slavery, the king's hand was forced. His foe was using magic to cripple his forces, so what was opposing to do the same? With this logic, he met with with his top men, and together they created a long forgotten emblem. This supposedly won the kingdom's last war (as it was written in nearly all historical books, even when the king was a lad with a picture of the symbol). Upon using the emblem, summoning whatever lost powers there are within it, it shattered, breaking into 9 jagged pieces. They hovered upward for a few seconds, then shot off in different directions. The kingdom fell merely an hour later; the king had died via an unknown cause. Ever since, the emblem has no longer been recreated for fear of death. There are some, however, seeking the emblem's pieces, to recreate it a second time and unlock it's secrets.
For many years, there have been no solid leads to the emblem pieces' location; many powers seek it, mostly consisting of bands of people working for a similar cause. However, in recent times, during a dig site in the caves near the olden castle, one of the shards was discovered. The diggers had no idea what they had found, so they left it there; what would you do if you found a glowing purple shard in the middle of a cave?
This news took little to no time to spread; soon enough, rumors of the secrets held began rising. Some say it's treasure, some say it's some sort of weapon, and yet others say it should be left alone. In any case, the hunt for the 9 pieces, and the truth about what the emblem does, has begun.
RULES
No godmodding/ubering, of course.
The emblem pieces are out there somewhere; when you find one, it CAN be stolen.
I control what the completed emblem does; if you have a suggestion for it, PM me and I'll think about it.
In the character sheet, there is a slot called "Desperation Move." The following must apply: - Must not be too overpowered; it can be powerful, but can't kill in one hit for example. - Can only be used when your character is weak. Why? Otherwise, we'd be having overpowered moves fly EVERY SECOND. - This is a given, but it has to have a positive effect. Nothing too overpowered, but it has to do something, like doubling your speed or something. - Must have at least one serious long term affect. For example, passing out for an hour after use is serious; passing out for five minutes is not.
Side stories can be done as long as they don't screw with the main story. For example, saying what the emblem does in a side story is a no no.
If you have read ALL of these rules, put "I read the rules, blah blah blah" at the bottom of your character sheet.

Name: Anmen Aumar A.ge: 40 Gender: Male Bio: Anmen was once one of the wealthiest men alive. He hosted the popular Aumarian Arena. Catchy name, no? People flocked to the arena to see gladiators risk it all for money. Anmen, a veteran gladiator himself, found himself swimming in money his very first year hosting the arena. It featured new, intriguing innovations over older, traditional fighting. However, arena deathmatches recently became outlawed in the city Anmen lives in. His brother, Isa, left the city and severed ties to him, calling him a murderer. Anmen's money is dwindling. He is becoming desperate. n a last-ditch effort to keep a hold on his wealth, He has set out on his own to claim the emblem. For what, he has yet to discover. Weapon(s): Metal buckler, iron longsword. (May I add in an appearance?) Appearance: Anmen is a stocky, short man with a shaven head. Some claim he looks to be made of stone. He stands at 5'9", and is broad-shouldered. He has a deep tan, craggy features, and light brown eyes. His hair is black with a touch of gray at the temples. There is a small, triangular scar on his forehead where he was hit by a heavy stone many years before. He has a tendency to scowl. Skills/Abilities: Anmen has seemingly limitless stamina, quick thinking, and good years of experience with most weapons. However, he is easily tempted, most easily by money. Magic: Very little, only some that allows him to empower himself during fighting. Desperation Move - Name: Riposte - Positive Effect: When fighting, Anmen's weapon becomes much lighter, and he quickly jabs and slashes multiple times, making it excruciatingly hard to keep up defense. - Long Term Effect: Anmen's weapon arm will pain him greatly for the next few hours, and using the ability in times of great weakness may cause vomiting and other afflictions. |

| Anmen sits idly in the remains of his once-great arena. His quarters were wide and spacious, with chestnut wood paneling on the walls and thick carpeted floors. Trophies and animal heads adorned the walls. However, It was beginning to go to waste. Sighing, he gathered his things and pushed open the door to the arena corridor, made his way out into the lobby, and left the large stone building. |
