I have put together a foolproof way to prevent spam in comment sections. It won't matter whether or not you use "/" or "." or any other "hider" as I would call it. Here is how it works:
The system is designed to not block words, but instead letters that are in a certain order. Let's use the word cake as an example. Instead of looking for the word "cake" it would look for the letter "c", "a","k","e" in that order. It WILL not pick up on any "hider"--so while the reader may see "c/a/k/e" or "c.ake" or "c a k e", the filter sees "cake".
Now you may be asking, "Well people will just start putting other letters between the words". The filter will pick up on that also. Let's say you say "caghgdjghjdkddshjghdje" (c a k e with a bunch of letters in between). The filter would be able to "look up" that phrase and see if it makes any sense in the context of a sentence. So lets say you say "the C wAlKEd", the filter would be able to recognize that sentence makes 0 sense. It would then start "eliminating" letters to find other possible choices until it reaches "C A K E". That comment would then be moderated.
Now, you may be asking, "Well, what about numbers being used?" The system could have a coding that links numbers and symbols to letters, for example... 1=i, l 3=E 0=O |\/|=M
and so on and so forth. Of course like all other systems there are flaws to it but that is why there is the report button. |

Seems good, but would it be able to identify the difference between "cool beans are back, yeah!" and "Cool beans are bAcK, yEah!"?
Basically, something that makes sense versus something that makes sense with certain letters capitalized to emphasize the bad nature of the letters without a regular filter catching it. If it can catch that difference, then I support.

@Mario It would. It could check and see if the A and the E are supposed to be capitalized. |

hey hey hey, I'm not agreeing to this, what happens if it's a misprint, or if it is a mispell.

| Great idea! :D It can just ignore all of the weird symbols. However, it should only strech over a certain amount of letters. |

| It might flag words like: assassin, or grass or well... you get the point. |

@Rubiks If it was one of those words the system would look that word up. If it is an actual word it will ignore it. |

| gig, suppose somone is entering the server, ok, picture in your brain? Should be. Now this person wants to greet the chatters in the server. So he says hello, but he left the "o" out of the greeting. So he later gets banned for saying that typo. since the filters (new or old) will take that as the word that was said cause of the typo. There's your example. (a typo that probobly happens often) |
