Multiple sources have confirmed to VG247 today that a new version of the Orbis kit is now shipping to developers, and that it’s housed in a normal PC case.
There are to be four versions of the dev kit, we were told. A previous version was essentially just a graphics card. The version shipping now is a “modified PC,” and the third version, appearing in January, will be close to final spec. A final version will be delivered to developers “next summer”.
Some US developers attended a “disclosure meeting” at Sony’s offices this week, with a further meeting to take place in the coming weeks. The purpose of the meeting is for Sony to tell studios what the machine is designed to do, to detail hardware and to show a set of presentations.
Our source told us that Sony is only calling the machine Orbis, and is not using the words “PlayStation 4″ in these meetings at all.
Orbis, we were told today, is based on the AMD’s A10 APU series. An APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) is a combined CPU and GPU.
PS4′s APU was described today as a “derivative” of existing A10 hardware. The hardware is “based on A10 system and base platform”.
Essentially, this is a combination of a low end CPU and a low end GPU that includes both for a total of $130 on Newegg. The new iPad's will be an upgrade from even the PS Vita.

| A5X is dual core @ 1ghz, an almost ten year old pentium M is technically faster. |

Googled and found article, no mentions of ipad.
It actually makes sense to combine CPU and GPU in a console where the space is limited, only need one heatsink for both and so on. |

No no, not that article, it's in a separate one. Just google "next ipad GPU" or something similar.

I thought that it was 1.2GHz instead of 1GHz.
On the other hand, I'm left-handed. |

remember that when the ipad and PCs move onto 2K+ resolution and consoles stick with hardly scratching 1080p with dual core @ 1ghz gpu/cpu combos

I'm talking next-gen, not now, although there are some larger monitors than 1080p atm. needless to say though, they're pretty expensive.

My best guess is 1080p will still not be considered HD at ps4 launch. It should have had a better GPU because it would still sell like hotcakes if it kept its F2P model. The iPad GPU, keep in mind, is for a touchpad tablet rather than a console, so being even remotely close to a console GPU's power is pretty bad. Also, this is the next iPad, not the current one, there's no telling what will come about considering it is just as if not slightly more powerful than the next gen Playstation's GPU. It might be able to handle more than "short minigames".

The ps4 will be able to output up to 2000p, an x64 OS which I.e. allows for more Random Access Memory, and an AMD Souther Islands GPU. The last thing, however, boggles my mind. The SE series are anywhere from a 73xx to a 7970 (no chance playstation will put in a 7990). This is from very bad to very good. This doesn't take away that all these cards are outdated by next year, though.
The X720 will have a 16 core CPU, but clock frequency isn't stated so I don't really know what to think. It will feature the same range of GPU's as the PS4, which like I said wont get me started.
Conclusion,
stick to PC gaming |

I'm not "going out of my way", it's a rumor from a clearly inside source that has also leaked that the PS4 will come with anywhere from 8 to 16 GB RAM, or at least its dev kits have. That rumor was verified to be true if I recall correctly, but don't qutoe me on it.
