In order to properly train your group, you need to actually train them.
Now I know what you're thinking - "EiW, that's so obvious!"
But at least 95% of groups are hosting trainings and then executing activities during them that have no purpose for the betterment of the group.
For example, troops will make hardly any progress from FFAs and Tournaments without being backed by actual training. Before hosting a FFA or SF Tourny, show some techniques to everyone and make sure everyone is confident with SFing.

I could type a long, extensive guide on this, and with exactly what things you could do for all sorts of activities and how to make your own, along with little tips here and there. However, I don't want to type something so extensive to have it go virtually unnoticed. In order for me to do that, I'd need supporters - group leaders willing to look over the guide, and if they like it, embrace it as a guide for their group.
Spread the word to your group leaders and link them to this thread, and if I get enough supporters (at least 5), I'll go ahead and type it up. |

Support. I try to do this with my clans. Most though don't understand that you need to teach them how to SF good before making them SF others.
For example, using mouse-lock or 1st-person view and attacking your enemies by the side (or behind them) as well as attacking the arm that is not wielding a weapon. |

Exactly how Dark Shadow Imperium trains. We start off our trainings with usually 4-6 trainees, welcome them to the training, make them feel warm and welcome so they will perform better, start off with a greeting message.
Instead of doing FFAs and such, DSI does 1V1 tournaments, which are very organised. We do a swordfighting and gunfighting tournament. Before each tournament, we teach the trainees good skills, good ways to take out your enemy. We teach them how to take out their foes effectively, with the aid of speed.
At the end of each training, we have 6 Raid Stimulation. The trainees are split up onto a defending team and raiding team, then fight according to their team. This gives them a feel for what raids are like, improves their raiding/defending skill, and is a fun way to finish the training. Our trainers observe all activities, judge the trainees on a scale 1-5, and tell them to improve, and their mistakes, etc. |
