@opera
yeah,you could've realized the android posts being more minimal than the iOS posts.
yeah,I've had an asus TF300 under cleanROM,and an ipad 2 under iOS 5.1.1 jailbreaked,and found the ipad 2 to be more practical. |

1. There's no support for android
2. jailbroken* Why is it more practical? You have to use spaces after the commas.

If anything, android catches onto trends faster than iOS (NFC, notification center, etc.)
I'm a fanboy of both operating systems. They both have their flaws and advantages. |

@Opera Translation = Roblox for iOS is practical only because it was a good start. They will now step up to android and because older phones are becoming impractical Roblox will be completely multiplatform on all non-extinct devices. Am I correct? |

@j1my3p1x
Of course iOS has the lower market share. There's only 3 iPhone models that are still on sale, while Samsung, ASUS, HTC, and the like have boatloads.
But OS market share, in this case, means nothing. What are the only devices that you can get iOS on? The iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
The iPhone is currently the best selling smartphone in the United States (Yes, I know, the Galaxy S III trumped it, but the release of the iPhone 5 pushed it back to the top). The iPad is the #1 tablet in the market (Even though Android is catching up) and the iPod is also a best seller.
When presented with these facts, it's clear what you would choose first.
In the long run, I think ROBLOX should expand to both platforms. Then they're basically covering about 90% of the market.
Now, a bit about myself. I AM an iOS fanboy. But, at the same time, I'm also an Android (and Google) fanboy. I like both operating systems equally and they both accomplish the same thing (make your life easier).

I'll do it for him. For the sake of simplicity, let's say each list is 10 items long.
List #1
* Absolute positioning, no having to mess with different layouts * iOS provides very easy ways to make your app easier to use for disabled people * Closed sandbox means an incredibly low chance of mobile exploits * UIKit contains a bunch of useful controls that Android can not use due to patent reasons (elastic lists, etc.) * Easy to port to Mac and back * Way, way more accessories than any other Android product * Easier to test due to less products * XCode simulator is eons ahead of Android's (provides realistic gameplay, no weird lag) * Studies show kids (ROBLOX's target demographic) want Apple products far more than competitors - Kindle ranked second) * Pretty much the standard device for business
List #2
* Very limited chance of getting a virus - any exploits are patched in a quick update if found * Simple to use icon-based interface * Can't be mangled by carriers or resellers * Access to the largest app store in the world * Access to AirPlay + Apple TV + Google TV * Built-in recovery with Find my iPhone * FaceTime * iMessage * Access to Game Center * Access to Apple's iCloud * Still get access to most of Google's apps

"and they have less devices to code than android?"
I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. I have an app that supports 2247 different devices (with 8,855 downloads total as of the last dev console update) in the Play store. It uses a single code base and didn't even have to do any extra work to port.
----- @techboy: "Absolute positioning, no having to mess with different layouts" Android has absolute positioning, however using it is a bad idea because of the wide variety of screen sizes and pixel densities.
"iOS provides very easy ways to make your app easier to use for disabled people" So does Android.
"XCode simulator is eons ahead of Android's (provides realistic gameplay, no weird lag)" This one I'll give you, the Android emulator is AWFUL. It's my biggest complaint as a developer. qq
"Very limited chance of getting a virus - any exploits are patched in a quick update if found" Only ~5% of malware comes from the Play store. If you don't download from 3rd party app stores or torrents, you'll be fine.
"Simple to use icon-based interface" Android also has a simple icon-based UI.
There are other apps that do just as good (if not better) as the list of iServices you listed. |
