This is a feature only really necessary for Clans and Guilds.
I've had and seen situations where people have posted something about their group on C&G, and they were flamed and insulted, and their group was made fun of by people from other clans.
I thought it'd be nice if there was an option right under "Do not allow replies to this post" that said, "Only clan can post on this"
If you check it, there will be a list right under displaying all your groups, and if you're OBC with several groups, it will display a few and the option to click, "Next", including a search button to search for your group.
This is a feature only for the C&G forum section, and it's optional so it's not harming anything. This is just for extra protection and privacy, especially if you have information in it that you do not want other clans or groups to know about.
Especially if you have a long post about your group, the forum is probably the easiest way to post your group ideas or whatever. It's easier than individually sending everyone a message and having hundreds reply to you. This way, it's more organized and all you have to do is share the link to the forum post.
I don't see any other easier way to do this besides posting it on the forums.
Q&A:
Q: Why can't you just post it on the group wall or group shout?
A: There is a limit to how much you can type on the group wall or shout. Most of it will be cut off, and I would NOT want a super long group chat stretching out my page, and it's unpleasant to type in a tiny box.
--
Q: Why do we need this if it's only for one forum section?
A: Who cares if it is only for one forum section? It's going to at least help some people and every forum section has its people. It doesn't need to apply to the whole forum for it to work.
--
Q: Why can't you just check "Do not allow replies to this post" to avoid flamers?
A: People can still make replies and it's still public for every clan to view. If you have secret information, it's not going to be so secret. With these feature, it's only available to people in that clan.
--
Q: What happens when you click on a private C&G thread?
A: There will be an error message appearing saying, "Woops! You are not in this group. You can not view this thread."
--
Q: How do you know if a thread is private?
A: When you click on it, it won't work. Derp.
--
Q: There's no point of this, you noob.
A: As I explained above, this is going to be a harmless, optional feature if you just want extra privacy without spamming the group wall or group shout.
--
To expand on this, the group shout is also visible to all, so it's not going to be private. And the group wall shouldn't be turned private just for one secret message.
Thanks for reading. |

No. You're not from c7g. You don't know how much this will be abused.

@Ghost,
You might note the difference in post count before you decide that a person has no experience in a particular forum.
@OP,
The only thing that could go wrong here is that flamers and trolls join the group for the express purpose of being able to troll the thread. Maybe there could be a new section in the group permissions panel that allows you to say which ranks can post on group threads. |

@tahu
They can already do that. If there are trolls in a group, you exile them, simple as that.
I can see why you suggested this, Winterpie. We made two threads concerning the S&I Forumers Crew Awards Ceremony and we got all these C&G trolls saying things like "umg dis is a crew nawt a clan go awei" :3
@Ghost
And what is the problem with this, exactly? You shouldn't have any business posting on a group's thread if you're not in that group.
You've earned my support, Winterpie.

@tahu You might smell the sALT in the air before you post things such as that.
@Recruit But if you could see the posts, which it seemed like you could on the list of threads, all you'd see on c7g is trolls filling it with spam you can't open to mark as unread.

Then it won't be public to people who aren't in that clan. Simple. It's not going to state which clan it's from either.
And I don't need to post in a forum section everyday to know that there will be trolls on it. |

Long time; no see. :D How've you been? cx
Anyway,
Flawless idea. Hopefully the moderators respond to this before it hits eighty pages or so. xD

@Recruit Yeah, that came out badly. I was saying that if you could view these threads in the list, if not the content, as the original post implied, then the entire forum would be full of them, done merely by trolls to take up space and stop other posts.
@Summer I know, I was explaining to him about my first post, though.

@Ghost
You can report those threads. There will always be trolls regardless, it doesn't really make much of a difference if you can reply to a troll thread or if you can't reply to a troll thread. |

Why, what a pleasant surprise! :D I've been good, you?
Thanks for the support. And yeah, moderators reply on the troll threads instead of the normal ones :c |

@Recruit I can tell you've never seen c7g in action when there's a clan related update out.
The trolls would come out of the woodworks to abuse it, and it would be a lot worse than normal.
@Summer Actually, Sorcus is a troll. It's why he's a c7g moderator.

There would be no more abusing if people made it totally secretive and private. :L Although, it IS optional so it's not harming anything.
