| No, he didn't. The earliest known record of the quote was by an Elmer T. Peterson in the Daily Oklahoman. It does not appear in any of Alexander Fraser Tyler's speeches writings. |

Are you aware of the differeance between a democracy and a republic? The founding fathers HATED pure democracy.
The difference is simple:
In a democracy, the majority rules.
In a republic, the majority rules, but there are laws protecting the rights of the minority. |
