| Well, it may seem strange, although nothing happened on "the day" The year that their calender ended is the VERY year that global warming rose to full blast. Could it be, that, rather than predicting some major cosmic event, that they were warning us that if we don't stop polluting the world that we will bring about our own demise? Whether that theory is true or not, we certainly will meet our demise if we don't stop polluting/destroying the earth. |

You just won't admit that you were wrong will you?
Nothing happened and nothing is going to happen. |

| "You just won't admit that you were wrong will you?" Nothing major is going to happen i know. However, it is clear that we are going to be facing some big problems with global warming in near future... Unless we stop using fossil fuels. |

And the economically efficient part?
Show me some statistics as to why these things wouldn't just drain a countries economy further? |

Solar panels are out of the question. They don't provide nearly enough energy to fuel the population.
Same with wind power.
Hydro-electric is slightly viable but is unpredictable and is VERY expensive to buy and repair. |

Australia tried Solar panels in 2008.
The idea was quickly dropped. |

| Well solar power is a bit costly, but nucluar power is about just as pricely as fossil fuels so wouldn't be much of a difference. Wind power just requires about 1000 dollars per mill, and solar power is pretty much the same. |

| my idea is that we could sort of combine energy sources. Say a solar panel connected to every street light, nucluar plants replacing fossil fuel plants and a hydroelectricity station by certain rivers. |

| Nuclear power isn't viable UNLESS the factories are kept in high standard conditions, which, considering the government won't do that, isn't. |

| It seems this year is the year that global warming decided to take off. From super-rare ultra-destructive winter tornado's to an overly active hurricane season this year has been the strangest EVER. We begin this year continuing one of the warmest winters in history, than as we go further into the year just a bit not thousands, not millions, but billions of whales and dolphins wash up dead (Probably due to the pollution rate). Just a little further into the year and we got cities flattened from ultra-rare winter tornado's in the thousands. We move further into the year, and we are expecting a below-average hurricane season with 13 named storms. Before hurricane season even begins, we get 2 rare off-season tropical storms battering the U.S. Where was the first hurricane of the season? gulf of mexico? carribean? east atlantic? Nope, all good guesses, but the first hurricane was in the far northern atlantic! Talk about climate change! Now we move even further and we've got tropical storm debby slashing florida. Around the same time we've got a massive wild fire, record drought, extreme heat wave and massive derecho's (super-power wind storms). Even further we have an unexpected amount of tropical storms cruising the atlantic, hurricane isaac striking southeast louisiana and just a little bit further a rare- LATE OCTOBER SUPER STORM HITTING THE NORTHEAST! And yet again, we have a warm winter here in the south :l. And now that we finally reach november climate change certainly isn't over! Extreme winter storms hit the u.s. at an alarming rate. An early winter freezes the north with historically low temperatures for fall, and now temperatures for the U.S. are going below 0. It looks like climate change makes winters more harsh and summers record-breaking. BUT ITS NOT OVER YET! As we move into december we get another rare-winter-tornado outbreak! So is this what we REALLY want? Destruction? when all we have to do is stop using a simple pollutant????? |

Solar power just doesn't produce enough energy for what it costs. Maybe when the technology is advanced it could be an alternative but right now I think it's just not ready. |
