| Man, there are too many hipsters here. Can't you just realize the game is still just as awesome? I loved that Alpha world gen and biomes, though, so I use a mod for that |

I LIKE A VERSION OF A GAME IN ALPHA THAT HAS LESS FEATURES BECAUSE THIS MAKES ME SEEM LIKE I KNEW THE GAME FOR LONGER THAN OTHER PEOPLE!

Okay OP, if alpha was better, tell me why you believe so.
Because it sounds like you're just trying to seem like a hipster |

I liked Alpha's world generation better, I wish there were an option for that.
Throwing in emerald ore and all that, naturally. |

screw that, /indev/ was better
finite maps and no respawning (saves exists though) means you cared about every single block. the game was very focused and didn't have millions of half-baked features.
i miss watching the sunrise on my cliff-side base taking up 1/4 of the island, while the minecraft music plays.

Late on this, but the reason I think it was better...
It was a bit more difficult, now it's just dig down and find diamonds. If you can find a ravine, you're set for life.
I'm not saying the newer updates are bad, I'm just saying they can't beat the classic. |
