| social stigmata associated with homeschooling makes people think you are weird and that "there is something wrong with you/your family" |

idk probably because homeschool isolates you from everyone else for the most part im in a public high school and everyone is nice but that just might be the area where i live |

| It sort of stops your social development, you know? I mean, I see nothing wrong with it if you're a mature kid and all, but you need some life experience dealing with people to be able to function well as an adult. |

I found my school more then likely impedes social devolopement and creates an illusion of ease in the real world. |

| Not to mention public school was pretty much a progressive idea that failed in its intentions. |

| Not everyone does, and not every public school kid is a 'savage'. What happens is stereotyping. Some people's stereotype of a homeschooler is a socially awkward geek who does school in pajamas. Then there's people who think public school kids are always mean and nasty and public school is such a terrible place that no kid should be exposed to. Let me tell you, there's some truth in each of these cases but they're not entirely true. Some of the nicest people I know go to public school, and I could name homeschoolers and kids who have been to homeschool who would be fine in public school. |

| I am a homeschooler who takes classes and extracurricular stuff at public school, so I get the best of both worlds. |

it's because homeschool doesn't teach you all the social stuff you need to know so a lot of homeschooled kids are lost once they need to get a job and go out on their own
of course the parents could work around this but many don't |

| @baka: actually the social skills homeschoolers lack aren't really the ones that people depend on to get jobs, so I wouldn't say they are 'lost' once they get into the real world. However, a lot of homeschoolers are very 'lost' when they suddenly switch to public school or start taking classes. But that isn't always the case. |
