"Aint no river wide enough" they sometimes say.
Anyhoo. Just how "wide" can this "river" go without glitching out?
Basically I want to know how large a Roblox place can be before you start to experience the strange "void glitches" (characters sliding while walking, vehicle regens causing strange errors or glitches, etc) that happen in large maps (example: Roebot56's Transportation Simulator 2/3. Specific area: Termino City. Errors: Character sliding, regeneration glitch, etc.)
Im asking this, because I have a certain project I want to do, and it requires a rather "huge" map. Due to these glitches, it might cause problems.
So yeah.
If you can give me the exact distance from position 0,0,0 that the errors begin to occur that would be nice, if not just a rough guess.
Thanks.

Just an idea, but I had parts glitch before in a fairly small place when I placed them and the Velocity property changed and caused my character to slide. I fixed it by resetting the Velocity to 0,0,0 in the part. |

@69
Actually, what was happening is:
In certain large maps, once you get a certain distance out, it becomes impossible to travel in certain directions by walking. The effect of that begins at some certain point, where, if you try to walk a certain direction, your character will continue going the original direction for about 1/5 of a second before going the proper direction.
Its not my internet connection, and its not my computer. Ive already ruled both possibilities out with deductive reasoning.
@GMSF
Nope, just want to know how far out you can go before the glitches make it impossible to move anything at all. |

This question would very depending on the amount of ram and the video card your using.
What you're describing sounds like a lack of ram in your video card. Try giving your machine a cleanup or restarting it. then run the game again to see if that helps. Even a single baseplate 2048x2048 will have rendering issues at the edges where the studs don't show or flash. I do have one question for you, Have you ever changed settings for roblox? |

| 2044x2044x2044 is the biggest for a single brick, but I don't know how long a map can go... Funny if you'd hit the farmlands. :P |

I guess the question is, play a game with a friend who has a better computer and see if it causes issues for both of you at the same time. That would solve the question of if it is your computer or a ROBLOX issue. I'd tend to lean towards the comments that it is your RAM. My old computer wouldn't show me very much of a map. My new(er) one shows me 10 times more of a map and it isn't really that new, just a better video card and more RAM. |
