Well i only do it for a couple of reasons
1. I bought the game but lost the disk.
2. I cant find the game ANYWHERE, not even on ebay/amazon or whatever.

| If I have the option of pirating something, I'll generally choose that option over paying. |

I generally only pirate it if I cannot find it anywhere else. Most of the time I buy it, though.
In fact I haven't pirated a game yet. |

No, you're not.
I pirated Serious Sam 3: BFE. I felt bad, felt like "Why did I pirate it? Why? A team of 15 workers made an excellent game and I'm just taking away their money.."
Bought it later. |

The publisher doesn't lose anything from you pirating games. It is not a lost sale or a stolen copy, it is a clone. They literally lose nothing, publishers that posted a "leak" on TPB or kat actually ended up having increased sales because people used their copied version as a demo.

I'd only crack/pirate a game if it's horribly made, yet i still want to try it, and they didn't bother making a demo
or it has hilarious anti-piracy drm that makes me pirate AND buy it just so i can muck around with the drm (invincible pink scorpion anyone?) |

If it's expensive and people aren't sure if they'll like it, they crack it. Simple as that. Basically cracking it is like giving it a free demo it doesn't have.

Hypothetically they are loosing out, because if you actually purchased that game they would receive the money for it, but they are not.

What about cases where you would have never bought it in the first place?
A lot of people pirate games that they never would have bought in the first place (for a variety of reasons.) |

But you are still receiving the product for no amount of money payed out. Regardless if you wanted to buy it or not. |

The company did not put any resources forth to distribute online copies as they do with retail/box copies. Downloading it for free causes literally no financial damage.

I, personally, try to buy a physical copy of a game whenever I get the chance However, if I can't find it anywhere, or I don't have the correct console, or I lost the game and don't want to pay for it again, or all the prices I can find are ridiculous, or it's ages old and the company who made it won't be getting a profit from an online sale anyways, or I want to see if it's good before I buy it... ...Then I'll just use an emulator -- ≈Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn! I'a, Cthulhu fhtagn! I'a, Cthulhu fhtagn! I'a, Cthulhu fhtagn!≈ |

| If its an older game where the company doesn't make money off of it, then I really don't care. |
