@chan That video basically said that there IS something special about Dec. 21st 2012 for the Mayans, but there were no conjectures made by the Mayans that it was the end of the world. Then it went on to talk about how the sun isn't a threat, etc.
It really doesn't convince me the world won't end on Dec. 21st. There could very easily be fluctuations with solar output, resulting in a solar flare. A nearby UNKNOWN star becoming supernovae. Problems with the Earth's orbital axis, knocking it towards the sun. There are dozens of possible, and at least somewhat feasible, ways in which the Earth could end. |

Exactly, the Mayan circular calendar wasn't finished. For what other reason would they just randomly decide to end it, despite still having a quarter of the circle left?
Keep in mind that the Mayans were a civilization shrouded in mystery - said to be able to conjure from the dead, believed in dwarfs, used magic, used human sacrifice (evidence of this), rituals, etc. It wouldn't be surprising if they did make a prediction about the world ending, and given that they're like a mystical and mythical beings, it is very feasible from a creative standpoint. |

How can a nearby star be unknown?
Even then, all of the concepts that you're talking about could happen at any time, and not necessarily on Dec. 21st.

| NASA already has, indicating extreme levels of solar output/a solar flare in a couple billion years. |

| @chan Yes, but the Mayans had insight on dark, unknown elements and connection to body, soul, and mind. It would not surprise me ONE BIT if they could predict the world's end. After all, they had literally no tools of astronomy, but become masters of it - and even discovered black holes. |

If you're going to debate on a scientific discussion, then I expect for you to present scientific evidence.

You do realize that the Mayan circular calendar IS circular for a reason.
It only had a certain number of days in it.
Dec. 21, 2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar yes, but the first day will start the following day. |

There isn't any scientific evidence that the world will end. However, there's no scientific evidence that it won't. There's only the shedding of doubt (i.e. it couldn't be solar output, small solar flares have been happening for thousands of years, etc.). Also, it's hard to find evidence that it will end - what with all NASA's "evidence" and whatnot trying to prevent an outcry because NASA KNOWS THE WORLD WILL END. THEY'RE LYING BECAUSE IT WOULD BE CHAOS IF IT WENT PUBLIC. CHAOS!!!! |

@Jake,
If you watch the video I posted, you would see the evidence.

| It's evidence that sheds doubt on the fact that the world will end. However, it doesn't negate all of the possibilities, and it was most likely published by the government in order to mitigate a potential outbreak of panic. |
