So, in my novel, a major part of the plot line is that a new heir to Satan's throne is needed--however I would like to have a flash back chapter of how the heir normally has a terrible life in order to induce the feelings of hatred needed to become the new Satan. Would it be bad if I included how the new heir was child-abused, causing the reader to feel some sort of pity for Satan? I'm not a Satanist by any means--however part of the plot is that in order to become the heir they must become attributed to hatred feelings so by being child-abused they develop these atributes to become the heir to the throne that the current Satan holds. Would it be bad if some pity was felt for Satan, BEFORE he was Satan?
