| From what I've seen, the story's good, and so is the gameplay. |

Its not as fun as Vice city or SA. They made it really brown and edgy.
It's about some guy who becomes a master criminal because "DARK UND EDGEY MAK ME CRAWL IN MY SKIN". |

In other words it may not be the fun sandbox joy-world you are looking for. I recommend trading it in and getting sr2 (On the Xbox, because the PC version is really broken) or SR3
Because you can run around as a fat purple woman who speaks in a zombie voice while driving a tron light-cycle. |

GTA 4 has one of the best stories in gaming, though while it is a great game, it's not as good as past ones. It's more slow and tactical, though not as fun to play as earlier ones.
It's a sandbox game. You have a big city to explore and free roam in, and you complete missions that advance the story. It's a pretty long game, with the main story over 50 hours. |

Most of the missions in GTA IV are "drive here and kill the dudes", and every 5 minutes your relative wants you to pick him up so you can explore the city to play bowling and other dull stuff. So if you don't get the police on your tail you bought a brown version of The Sims.

@Commando
I'm not too sure about the story part. It's pretty much the same basic plot as any other GTA game but with more realism. I really liked spec ops the line because it was a great bait and switch. You came into the game expecting another same modern shooter, and then the game does some really dark and messed up stuff because of the actions of your character, to the point where a dead guy tells you that you only came to Dubai to pretend you're a hero (SPOILERS WHOOPS) |

I think it's a good game. Though not perfect.
Vice City, San Andreas are much better. Though I don't like SR3 too much. Even SR2 was better. It just felt kinda rushed. |

The story is great because of Niko. He's one of the few game characters who feels like an actual person. While past games had great characters, Niko's interactions with others around him just make him intresting, because he isn't a bad guy, he wants to do the right thing.
Despite that I ran over a few grandmas with buses afterwards LOL. |

I do really like Spec Ops. I never really thought about the consequences of military shooters before, mainly because there weren't any. Yet in Spec ops, the decisions you make land a big impact.
Especially the missle targeting scene....just...wow... |
