| I just saw in the news that a field trip in Little Rock Arkansas to see a Charlie Brown play in a church was cancelled due to an anonymous parent complaining to the "Pre-Thinkers" organization, which consists entirely of those who speak for atheists and a few other groups, who continued to file a lawsuit against the school because the play involved christian religion and was in a church. This trip was completely voluntary for the children, and did not have to go nor were they penalized for not going. |

| Pretty much. Even though I'm not Christian, it's absolutely annoying when these people think they're speaking up for us by crying that we're oppressed or some other baloney! Get real... these kids would have loved Charlie Brown! Granted, his lack of enthusiasm is kind of a damper. |

our thinking is clearly the right thinking because it's newer
therefore, all other forms of thinking must be incorrect and nobody should ever follow them |

A few people do not represent the whole US population. Not all atheists are like that :/ |

Big deal, let the children enjoy a Charlie Brown play and watch as they eat themselves some popcorn.

I'm not saying that this is solely the way that all atheists act. There was another story about the salvation army possibly being banned from the University of California for being anti-bis**ual. But it was against the rules, and I can see why. |

12prind, you're also not seeing the point. (Yes, I misheard the Free-Thinkers' organization name.) It's the fact that a single anonymous parent ended a field trip for an entire grade or children. The parent simply could have told the teacher that he/she doesn't want the child to go. |

| Well, when you say "our country" I'd assume you're referring to most/all of the population. |

@12:
All trips have to be "school sponsored", the teacher can't just up and leave with the children, because it opens up a whole scenario of legal issues! Whether or not the school sanctioned it is irrelevant. |

| 131, i said that mainly because no-one stood in the way of the parent or the Free-Thinkers. |

I don't like it when religon is forced, yet hate it even more when people overreact to religon. Just because something uses religion in it or ha a religious undertone doesn't mean it's preaching.
A wonderful life, one of the greatest films ever made has quite a bit of religious themes in it, yet never came across as preaching religion. Yet some people don't watch that movie because "they don't believe in the slight variation of their god in the movie" |

''I do not go to church anymore... I guess you might say I've come around to secular humanism, an obligation I believe all humans have to others and the world we live in.'' -Creator of Charlie Brown
That's not Atheism, nor is he attacking Christianity. And he was a Luther, anyways. |
