It has been confirmed that Guillermo del Toro discussed the possibility of directing a film featuring the supernatural characters of the DC universe, with Warner Bros. (Who coincidentally distributed "Constantine" in 2005.) the rumoured title is currently "Heavenly Spent" and will feature the likes of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, and Zatanna.
I can't wait to see John Constantine, kick-ass on the big screen, once again. I wouldn't mind if Keanu Reeves returned to the role.
Discuss. |

| You're telling me that you have never heard of the legendary John Constantine, or the equally great Swamp Thing? |

But seriously: If you're into the occult, satanism, and all types of weird then John Constantine's series "Hellblazer" is for you. It's kind of like Supernatural and Tales from the Crypt. It's dark, humorous, brilliant, and the series' social commentary puts every film George A. Romero has done, to shame.
Oh, and ignore the film adaption: "Constantine" starring Keanu Reeves. It's a good separate film, but the director had no clue about the series, and failed to paint the picture, if you will.
As for Swamp Thing. It's a great series that is relatively similar - dark, full, with the weird, and has plenty of social commentary.
Apologies for the wall. I'm a huge Hellblazer fanboy. |

HOLY CRAP I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING,
IF THIS IS MADE,
AND IT IS SUCCESSFUL,
THAT MEANS WE WILL PROBABLY GET A SWAMP THING MOVIE.

HELL TO THE YES.
Also, I'm surprised he's directing such a new superhero team. I thought Dark never existed until last year? |

Here's the link to one of the articles if you want to check it out yourself, man: http://screenrant.com/guillermo-del-toro-heaven-sent-swamp-thing/
The Justice League Dark is relatively new, to my understanding, but with The Avengers, being so successful, a sequel in the works, and with a highly likely Justice League Movie in the cards I think JLD is a good contender, for a team superhero film, to take on those two. Implying that it keeps the dark atmosphere of all the individuals separate comics.
Guillermo del Toro is well known, for dark fantasy films, and he's a well-known comic fan, he's the perfect guy, for the job. I hope he goes on to direct this, and possibly the Constantine sequel / Hellblazer reboot, or a Swamp Thing movie.

I kind of want a film for each individual member.
It just feels wrong to get a Justice League Dark film before a proper Hellblazer or Zatanna film.
Guillermo Del Toro's working on some part of the Hob bit films right now, right? |

To my understanding he dropped out as director during the early stages, but is now credited as one of the co-writers possibly for him bringing mainstream attention to the film, or he literally is helping write it. I can't wait, for that, by the way, it looks awesome.
Did you dislike the 2005 film starring Keanu Reeves? I thought it was a fairly decent film, poor adaption, but you could always incorporate Keanu Reeves's Constantine in the JLD movie, and then all we need is a proper Swamp Thing and Zatanna film. |
