Pro Patria; Variantia: The Current Status of The Variantia Reform
--AND--
A special two part report on the Catblox Crisis ('To Catch a RAT'; 'The General Disposition') _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ Part 1:
"Pro Patria; Variantia!"
As I sat in a chat room with Bbal, Rodgerdodger, ColourTheory among others, the pastebin link for the beta "Frostarian Four" concept was posted, with Colour encouraging us to 'read it and give feedback', noting that is was 'complicated' and would take 'three or four read-throughs' to understand.
I understood enough on the first read through to realize how innovative and.. 'fresh' the idea was, and it made me realize "there's no reason why everything has to be so cut and dry in a clan- diversity is a key component of the human race, and clans simply do not account for that".
Thus, with a little inspiration, I penned a short outline of the Variantia reform, which was then converted into the low quality flow chart that ROBLOX malfigured (http://www.roblox.com/UAF-reform-flow-chart-item?id=90571082).
As for the full length explanation around which UAF will soon function, its current completeness is at an estimated 70%.
Everything from Lieutenant to Intellect I has been finished, and only the Development I and upward ranks remain to be explained.

2a. "To Catch a RAT"
and
2b. "The General Disposition"
It is no secret that my first clan was the Roblox Assault Team, and that two thirds of the acquaintances I've made and skills I've learned have come from my time within their ranks.
My ability to attain my position in UAF came from the amount of work I did within RAT, and the fact I was willing to give up the years of work I had put into them to dedicate my time to UAF.
This sacrifice was one of the reasons he trusted me, and a reason why, even after the multiple admin attacks we suffered in his era, I was one of the few high ranks that remained.
As he neared his last days of leadership, things in UAF's high command deteriorated, yet that was never known to the public, because his skills as an orator allowed him to sugar coat any ordeal- a useful skill to have for a man who led with the people's consent.
However, as he found his trust beginning to fade, the high ranks of his era found their trust in other high ranks wavering as well, and when we found other high ranks we knew we could trust, we clung to them as if they were our dearest friends.
This was where the UAF trio was formed; MOOJL-Bbal-Shadowsword.
When I took over the reigns of UAF the first time, I was inexperienced, and needed high ranks to lean on while I worked to adjust- Shadowsword and Bbal were those high ranks.
As time progressed, we grew close, and daily voice chats took place offsite. This trio expanded to include my good friend Stephen5, and lead to a quartet of do-everything-together high ranks.
One day, Shadowsword introduced us to a low rank- RodgerDoder, and it was then that I realized I would never meet someone quite like him ever again.
Near the end of my era, he reached the status of Legislature in UAF, and has since become one of my closest advisers, and friends.
Due to personal issues, I soon allowed bbal to lead UAF with myself as second in command, shadow in third, and Rodger the overall adviser to us all.
After a month of leading, she too encountered personal circumstances, and when she left, Rodger went as well.
I was still dealing with personal problems, so I allowed shadowsword to take control of the clan while I remained at second in command- it was at this point in time that UAF made a monumental shift from being lead with one part leader, one part people, one part high rank say to being two parts leader, one part people, with the high ranks left doing as they're told.
It was at this point in time when the constantly-failing UAF Academy, the UAF Navy, and several other fruitless projects began, instead of working towards internal improvement and reform.
It was at this point in time when FalseWarrior000 made his way to General, through my own pulling of strings, and proceeded to call for moral and legislative reform amongst the group as a whole.
He wrote, ENTIRELY HIMSELF (there was absolutely 0% effort put into this by shadowsword), the UAF Constitution, the Member Codex, The Abolishment of the Double Standard, and worked to reform the failing Academy.
It was only after significant arguing with Shadowsword that I was able to convince him to release these works, which made the corruption and high rank abuse of his era punishable by law.
However, shadowsword did not take these rules seriously, and often allowed False and I to handle member disputes, without him getting involved (and I quote, "I don't get involved in high rank matters").
This lead to the over stressing of Falsewarrior and myself, along with the exasperation of Tbarpo, Romaster, and Vuqu, the three of which had been caught up in a furious power struggle which Shadow refused to break up.
Only after eight hours of arguing did we reach a resolution (once again, 0% effort by shadowsword).
After receiving numerous reports about corrupt, inefficient, and pointless Colonels, Shadowsword attempted a total reform, demoting all Colonels without consenting with any high ranks or the people for their opinions- there was a massive riot, he re-promoted everyone, and refused to attempt a reform again, despite one being needed.
These are only minor examples of the issues high ranks, myself and Falsewarrior specifically, faced in Shadow's era. However, his attitude throughout these high rank conflicts is an indicator as to why I handle things in such a different way.
It was on July 10th, my birthday, that Shadow finally felt the pressures of leadership catching up with him, and that was when I returned to charge.
It was at this point in time that I decided I needed to establish a reliable high command mixed with new and old high ranks, while re-establishing UAF as a clan to be taken seriously.
To go about doing this, I set out to reform the alliance with RAT, whose Head of War was none other than ex-Legislature Rodgerdodger, which made the process even easier. As this alliance between RAT and UAF formed, Rodger brought his RAT high rank friends into the offsite voice chat- it was here that personal relationships began to foster between us, and it came to a point where we no longer saw ourselves as high ranks of allied clans, but as friends, and trusted confidents. Hevymetal591, a Sparrow Corp Developer who created the current UAF gun set that is in use at Kopervich and The City, was one of these friends.
This friendship between us led to an understand that we could confide in each other anything we needed to, and when I need to blow off steam from the stressful task of leading, I do just that.
As Rodger became better acquainted with ColourTheory, he was incorporated into the voice chats, and a mutual understanding of how we did things within our clans was reached- this was when the RAT-UAF alliance became mutual.
Shadowsword's lax, 'make decisions then pass things off to my high ranks' leadership style prevented Colour's ability to take UAF seriously at the time, which was a contributor to the Phoenix Tech-Sparrow Corp agreement being broken, among other things (Vydrak's 'anti-lifestyle' slurs against a RAT high rank, my long time friend fabiao14, being one of the main factors, along with his expected [yet not confirmed] leaking of Spectrum Beta).
This breaking of the technical alliance bothered Catblox, who felt as if it was handled improperly, brushing off Vydrak's slurs and exploit-ridden past. From his work in RAT (after leaving UAF and offering our tech to TRA in my first era), he had already formed the opinion that other RAT developers were bigots whose egos were impossibly huge.
It is because of this that I decided not to pursue the reforming of our technical alliance, and was actually relieved when it broke, due to the tension I knew it would cause between us if it persisted.
However, bygones were not bygones for Catblox and Vydrak, and Catblox especially berated Spectrum and the work the developers' had done on it on a regular basis- most notably, outside of ROBLOX in the RAT Minecraft server, or at servers of Borealis where RAT and allies were busy fighting off enemies.
The reason, comrades, why I have not gotten angry at ColourTheory for the things said by himself, Rodger, and Hevymetal is simple; I am no hypocrite, nor are you.
I did not punish Catblox, nor Vydrak, for their repeated insults (the things said were not criticisms, but blatant jabs at Sparrow Corp integrity) toward RAT developers and Spectrum, and for me to seek action against those responsible on the RAT side would be hypocritical, dishonest, and improper- Because they did not insult UAF, they did not insult our members- they specifically lashed out at those who had insulted them in the past, without punishment.
I do not allow UAF members to be pushed around by allied leaders- I allow those who pass under the nose of official punishments in UAF to suffer the consequences they bring upon themselves.
It is for this reason that I have not condemned RAT's high ranks for their behavior- because it was minor in comparison to that of LordVydrak and Catblox.
And on a further note, the demotion of Bbal has never once been considered by my self- she rightfully earned her position as a UAF Legislature in benblue9's era, served to her utmost in my first era, did her best until she encountered personal issues, and now that she has returned, she has continued to fulfill various minor roles that more oftentimes than not are surrounded by circumstances in which, had she not done the job, no one else would have been there to do it in her stead.
There is no General cap, she does not have a department- she does not 'take up a spot' in any sense of the word 'spot'.
She is a General because of the fact that I, personally, can trust her to handle things in the absence of myself and the Legislatures.
The arguments of inactivity and 'mediocrity' used by Vydrak in private and at the high rank meeting preceding this post have no true merit in my mind, and in the mind of those who have seen her leadership. _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ Notes:
I am not forcing my opinions upon you- I am merely displaying my private opinions publicly, due to the sad fact that 'MOOJL thinks it's best for UAF' is no longer enough to satisfy the people, because for whatever reason, I seem to no longer have the trust of the people.
The true nature of past leaderships have molded my thought processes in ways that cannot be understood without the terrible past our clan's high command being explained- I only keep this hidden because I feel as if it is best for the people that I do so- not because I do not wish for you to know. _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ It is here that this issue of "UAF; Current Affairs" reaches its end!
