| If I were a graphic designer for Roblox I would use Garamond for subtitles, Fontin Sans in bold for titles, and either Lido STF or Helvetica for body. |

Myriad is just a smoother Arial. Also, why are you complaining about fonts? I just wish we could add custom .ttf and .otf to our games, so I can use Segoe UI to create GUI applications with a much better look.

"Why is Roblox using a Walmart font, when it's not even beautiful?" - Define beautiful. Fonts are strange creatures, in that one that works perfectly for one circumstance would look terrible for another setting. You give several very good examples of companies choosing fonts carefully (Google and Apple). Ask yourself, why would they choose to limit themselves to these fonts? If you take a look at any Google website, you'll notice that they tend to, as much as possible, shy away from using text. Their websites go all-out with white-space and use quite a few very colorful images. Because of this tendency, they need a way to stress the little bit of text their sites do have, or else what they are trying to say will get lost in the noise. Droid Sans fills this need perfectly, as its bold-looking nature draws the eye to it.
Now, moving on to Roblox. Who is Roblox trying to cater to? Kids, naturally. Who are Google and Apple catering to? Adults. Specifically, adults who are looking to find the information they need, and then get out as soon as possible. The difference in the audiences mean that it's beneficial for Roblox to use slightly more "cartoonish," more dynamic typefaces, because they are trying to entertain, rather than inform. For example, look at the blog. The massive, bold titles snap the viewer's eyes directly to where the designer wants them: the headers of the articles. The text in the articles themselves is designed to allow users who decided they weren't interested in article to move on to the next header, without being distracted by the main section of text. I would actually argue that in many sections of the Roblox website, fonts are used quite well.
tl:dr? Think about the audience the company is targeting, and then ask yourself how the font they chose fits that audience. |

@yacker Walmart font is for kids? Eh, no. Also, I never said for Roblox to use those fonts. I just gave good examples of other very great usages of fonts. |

HOLD UP.
Here's a question.
What would be an appropriate use for Comic Sans MS? It cannot be an ironic or satirical case. |

You can give someone an option of 5 fonts, including Comic Sans. If they choose Comic Sans, you can deduce that they would not be a valuable addition to your zombie survival team. |

Unfortunately, survival experts are not informed visual designers, and you have just gotten rid your most valuable member.
NEXT SUGGESTION. |
