They reach a certain point in the group where they can't continue past it, and decide they want to join a new group and work their way up in that one.
That and they want to see what different groups are like.

Like me, I keep 2 slots open usually for hopping
but I stay loyal to 3 clans: TRA, VS, and UAF |

Boredom.
That's usually the main reason.
Sometimes it's the result of conflict within the clan, but most of the time, it's simply because the clan lacks the key element "fun". |

Clan hoppers tend to:
get bored easily.
have a lack of loyalty for clans.
Be lazy often.
Try to find a quick way around a clan.
I've also been told that they have a wide range of skills which they use to hop fluidly. I don't believe it though. |

The ones I know like to join a clan when it's in a really, really good shape, like winning a war or something, just so they can brag "YO I'M IN *CLAN* AND WE'RE DESTROYING EVERYONNNNNE"
But as soon as it drops, they run and latch onto the next popular one. |

A clan needs to keep it's members entertained.
Without instilling some sort of purpose, interest or basic sense of amusement, people usually "hop".
Take VAK for example. It's lost nearly half of it's members over the course of the past six months. Why? Because it lost it's aspect of "fun".
People joined VAK for raiding and elitism.
VAK lost that.
Hence, no more "fun". |
