Well, as much as I truly hate to say it, this site has lost its appeal. 90% of time spent is on the roleplay forums, and, sadly, not too many original/Overall interesting threads exist on here anymore.
Note that this doesn't mean I'm quitting now: My original plan is to leave sometime around my 14th birthday, which isn't untill april 27th. I'll still come on here, join roleplays, write a story or two untill the day I think it is time to go arrives. |

| I agree. Most RP Threads are WarriorCats, Pokemon, Hunger Games, and other cliche RP topics. I really don't getting involved into those threads. |

Stories are already being Crushed by the RP Community for some reason. There is no Story Forum Section, so they post it here, but people say its off topic.
I don't know whats wrong with the forums these days. |

| Stories are supposed to go here, its just not widely accepted unless you have at least joined something and people relatively know their name. And seriously, I can slightly agree with the amount of cliche, but its more medieval crud than anything else. I'd welcome a pokemon RP, but nah, they're all on their fifth page by now, I'm never on the right time. |

No, fantasy is.
Medieval would have no magic or mythical creatures. |

I don't think I agree with a single thing you say, Pilot.
Well, phillip, I hope you pick up interest or start up a collab or something. It would be a shame having you slip away.

fantasy medieval has always bugged me
because essentially, they are worked on the most, but end up having the same plot or formula as another medieval-fantasy thread with one paragraph
most of them sound like lor.d of the ri.ngs
and the rac.es are usually boring and generic and all the cool ones are ad.min ones or too op or too useless to even try to be in a so.cial rp
basically what i'm saying is that we can easily pick out why threads are boring now a days and blame it on the big guys everyone complains about, although, nobody ever says why they don't actually join any rps that don't fit into that category. |

| My favorite sort of roleplays are ones that are more 'Free Roam' and not 'Go kill this dragon and get some stuff!' |

unfortunately, those tend to die because of the people in rp
free roams depend on the rpers actually taking the initiative and going ahead and making up tasks themselves to do, they also need a sufficient amount of detail in regards to what they're dealing with in order to have it make sense.
problem number 1: not too many people want to read that information, which is why modern is a common genre in rp since most people know what they're dealing with since they live it. you can do this type of rp without a lot of info, although, the op might have to lead people around a lot.
problem number 2: people don't like doing things without op's permission. they don't like to think they may be god-modding or doing something wrong, so, in a free roam, it's easy for some people to just hang around and not really do anything but talk, since that is the minimum required to be okay.
problem number 3: they get boring if you don't meet anybody else. usually, people aren't willing to go out to the same places and talk. possssssshhhh |

I find that Free Roams usually die very quickly, simply because of the unlikelihood of the characters actually crossing paths in a vast world.
I tried making my sequel to Elador a sort of Free Roam, but I've gotten a lot of negative opinions on it for this very reason. |

So THAT'S why the fantasy genre is dying out.

i could analyze these 'cliche' threads all day, you know
i mean a majority of rps do suck but a factor of the problem is that most believe if you just put something that hasn't been done tons of times or isn't frowned on by the community than it will automatically be okay and loved.
i mean why be so concerned with originality
it isn't even about originality its kinda about how some people aren't getting the threads that they like so they put the blame on the overused rps because hey, they could be making something i actually like and not other people!
my approval matters!

The thing I find odd is that, I'm trying out all these new ideas and such, and really, nobody is paying attention, yet there is complaints about unoriginality. Yeah, yeah, I know I complained about the medieval/fantasy/what ever the hell it is earlier, and let's just say I didn't have my sugar to wake me up. But still, if you want to change the over unoriginality, it would pay actually to search around for the new ideas, and try and adapt them into what you have. I had a card RP, which would probably have worked if anyone took interest in that, a trade system, which would work beautifully, if someone would have taken an interest, and I have multiple 'good' ideas around my head, if someone would take an interest, and other things. Just is sorta ticking me off that nobody really cares about the ideas but feels content to sit on their arse and complain about how bad the RPs are without even puttin-
am i sounding like tai now |
