You wake up from a long sleep, today you were going to be joining the military. It was beginning to be a tradition for most males of Ender to fill up the gaps in the small but elite military. After you finish washing up you go to your wardrobe.
What will you wear? |

Yawning, Nathe opened up his sad excuse for a wardrobe and pulled out a white cotton shirt and black leather plants. He picks up his spectacles before cleaning them off with a small cloth.
"Sir, w-w-we need 50% of the 99% a-and the support o-of at least 1% of the 1% if you're gonna have 42% of the 100% to get 50%." |

Stepping outside you make your way over to the closest military enlistment station. There is a short line so you get to the front rather quickly, there you find a man with an eyepatch writing down things. "What can you bring to our glorious army?" He asked in a rough voice.
This answer could determine the fate of your military career, well? |

(Sorry if you had a misconception but this has medieval era weaponry : / I could possibly do a modern day one but I would have to change a lot of my ideas for the story.)

The recruitment officer's eyes shot up, most citizens chose to fight on land but Ender's navy was strong nonetheless. "Go get any valuables from your home and report back here, the next military transport to our naval base leaves in twenty minutes." He tells you. |

Nathe nods, quickly making his way back to his small house.
He quickly writes a letter to explain to his wife on where he would be for the next few years and he will definitely return. Nathe grabs a photo of her and makes sure the onyx ring is securely on, grabbing his glasses case and the same cloth he had used in the morning.
After gathering everything that he thought was a necessity he quickly grabbed a apple off of a bowl in the center of the kitchen table, walking out and locking the door and placing it in a slit covered by the mat. Taking a bite of the apple Nathe made is way off to the recruitment office once more.

| You arrive at the recruitment officer several minutes early and the recruitment officer nods approvingly, "Those navy boys like it when their men are punctual, good job recruit.!" He tells you. Soon the transport, which was a convoy of carriages drawn by horses, arrives and you hop on. Next to you is a man with black hair and green eyes, he looked to be about 30. He smiles at you and holds out his hand for you to shake. |

Nathe returns the smile half-heartily, gripping the fellow's hand and shaking it. "Nathe Miller.. and you?"

| He smiled back and has a strong handshake, "Karston, Karston Keels." He relaxes into his seat and speaks again, "So what are your goals in the navy? In terms of rank of course." |

"Well.. just get wherever I deserve, I suppose." Nathe looked out the window quickly, catching a glimpse of the town he had spent his later years in. The thought of leaving clinched him though he swallowed the urge to back out, turning back to Karston.

He notices this and a sad smile creeps on his face, "I'm from a town a few miles back, I got a wife and two kids. Things are getting pretty bad you know with Dresmok stepping up their attacks on us."
How will you reply to this, or will you do something else entirely? |

"All they need is some cannons fired on their bases and the military weakened then the people would revolt in a heartbeat. Then things would work themselves out and we could return back to our families.."

Eventually you arrive at the naval base where 15 mighty tripledeckers just float tethered to the dock. You are all ordered to line up and face a training officer.
"From this day forth you are not an average citizen, you are a member of the navy! I don't care what you've heard but my goal is to make sure you're all an efficient part of our military! Remember the motto of the navy, an army soldier trains until he gets it right but a naval man trains until he NEVER GETS IT WRONG!" He shouts putting emphasis on the last few words.
You are then all asked if you have any prior knowledge of ships or combat. |

Just about none besides a keen interest in naval combat where Nathe had studied various naval battles and worked out a few scenarios for his own amusement.

(You were supposed to reply to the officer but it's all right.)
The officer nods and once the entire line has answered you are all directed to your sleeping quarters and ordered to get some rest.
What do you do? (remember you can do anything as long as it's possible.) |

(My bad.)
Nathe lays down on his bed, glancing around at his surroundings and fellow navy men. He liked the fact that they were strict so no slack could be cut to raise up to the top.. obviously Miller thought he was in good hands.

In the morning everyone is led to the dock where the three triple-deckers are waiting. A naval officer briefs you on your mission.
"These are brand new Triple-Deckers, they outclass the Dresmok gunships and the Ambriyan double-deckers by a mile! Today you will all learn the basics of firing a cannon."
Everyone is led to a separate cannon and given targets to fire at. The instructions repeat themselves in your mind.
Load cannonball, put gunpowder in the small hole at the top, make sure the cannonball is fully inside, light the fuse, and stand back.
There are 5 targets.. go!
(This will mostly depend on your intelligence and prior experience but if you include details about how you angle and aim it helps your chances of hitting.) |

Quickly putting the fuse in, Nathe loaded in a cannon ball and tilted it upward slightly, attempting to successfully hit the one that's further away. Lighting a match and waiting for it to fire he covered up his ears, the sound of it firing extremely loud.
Without seeing if it fired he loaded and readied it again to the next furthest one, adjusting it downward slightly and doing the same process.
Same process with this one.
The last one, a bit further to the right and rather class, he loaded the fuse and carefully aligned the cannon with the target. He quickly put in another ball and covered his ears yet again.
