I'll take two games I played for about 2 days recently.
Hitman absolution and assassin's creed 3. Both games had good graphics. I grew up with the PS1, for crying out loud. Everything back then looked like a polygon. But anyway, I had lower opinions of them then I thought I would. I'll just go over it real quickly.
Assasin's creed 3: Would have probably been more fun if I got longer in it, but the controls were out-of-this-world horrible to me. This franchise is starting to become a knockoff of B:AC. There is such a large amount of controls and special enemy types to watch out for. I only got about an hour in the game because the controls drove me to the point of insanity and the confusing HUD did too.
Hitman Absolution:
This is the first hitman game I've played. It was decent, but I was garbage at it. Like AC3, it had B:AC-esque controls that made me feel like I was juggling with one arm. The stealth mechanics felt broken. Disguises are worthless in the game too, so that is one broken stealth mechanic. Some other things too. This game had a decent replay value though. |

If you got confused by the controls for AC3 then you are pretty stupid.
Its simpler than the previous titles... |

they WERE going for graphics over gameplay but now we've basically reached the peak of graphical power so developers can spend more money on the gameplay and design |

| What do you mean? Increasing resolution would bring clearly better graphics, and computational power required to do so increases as we speak. |

We've reached the peak of graphical power? Even seventh generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 still can't play in 1080p.

increasing resolution is more of a display issue than a game-based graphical issue cgi films would look better with increased resolution as well but that's not an issue with the cgi itself |

except they can blu-ray runs on 1080p and the xbox supports 1080p as well (although a lot of older 360 GAMES only support 720p) |

| On console games you can clearly tell that most textures arent 1080p, not even close, and no game has gotten over the uncanny valley yet AFAIK. |

@DoT
Blu-Ray =/= Console game
Xbox 360 games are only in 720p. My friend even has an HD television and it's only 720p.
