Sony used to work with Nintendo back in the days of the SNES. Sony wanted Nintendo to make a disc drive in the SNES, Nintendo refused, Sony left. Thus making the Playstation. |

@AU You can easily find it on any history video of Sony and/or Nintendo.
Nintendo partnered with Sony, who was originally known for their hardware, to make a game console that used disks, which would theoretically be much cheaper than cartridges (which they are). But Nintendo decided to break the contract near the end of the development (no clue why), so Sony decided to just release their invention themselves.
They made the PlayStation, but they made it for Nintendo because Nintendo requested it. |

I thought it was that Sega wanted to partner a console with them, but canceled the deal, causing Sony to release it anyways under their name.
