I don't think Roblox does enough to teach it's users how to build or script.
The wiki is, well, horrible. There is no support in-game for learning basics.
I've been on roblox for 4 years, I've made many attempts at building but I still don't know what Cframing is.
How can Roblox sit by and let this carry on, we need Roblox to teach users how to do these things. It's all very well saying "learn it by yourself" but most of the time it's not enough.
Me not being able to Cframe is not the issue.
The point is if the devs can't provide enough tutorials or guidance that can teach roblox users, let alone a 4 year roblox veteran the basics of building and scripting then they are seriously doing something wrong. Isn't that the point of roblox after all?
We need tutorials or some kind of structured guidance. There is a forum where you can ask for help but I shouldn't need to ask for help. I've been making simple levels using Unreal Engine 3 editor for two years now, I'm quite good at it, so why can't I do the same for the Roblox studio? Because there's nothing and nobody to teach me.
There is only so much someone can learn by experimentation and very often when they do this they miss the basics that allow them to succeed.
The best part of roblox is that players can construct their own games and worlds using a surprisingly sophisticated tool kit. The problem is most players don't even know where to start so they are doomed to have a go, not succeed and never try again. Instead they will marvel at what others, with a little more luck than them, have achieved.
Roblox has just been published in several newspapers in the US. Like it or not they are big news. Roblox needs to work with the community in getting them all to meet the standards that are so very high these days.
The way I see it every robloxian is a future game developer. Roblox needs to nurture the future generation. They can only do this if they guide it...
Opinions?
Should the devs do more? |

| In my opinion, they ARE teaching us well,it's just that we are lazy. I got a tip,try and find a small Script in Free models, and edit it a little, keep doing this and you will become a pro scripter until you learn how to make your own scripts. The building part is easy,it's just that noobs are not bothered and they use free models for bad and not for good. |

Yes but where did you get this little tip?
That isn't roblox teaching you, that's you experimenting...
The point is that roblox needs to teach us.
What about the people that can't teach themselves, that need guidance...
People resort to free models because they don't know how to make their own, I don't think they're lazy... |

That's the point the roblox wiki is getting you to teach yourself it doesn't actually teach you anything...
Roblox needs more than a wiki to get people to be good builders. I've seen it, people use free models because they don't know any better.
A tutorial system like the one in UT3 Editor would work a whole lot better. |

That's the thing, they clearly do...
When they showcase the best and brightest of robloxia for every one of them there are thousands of users that have no idea on how to start except importing free models.
Any and all resources that can be found are nearly always generated by users. This means there are tools out there... None of them by Roblox. Roblox can therefore be acused of not helping it's own community. |

Gordonrox24 says that they take all ideas into consideration, so if this doesn't show up in 3 months his statement yesterday was false, amazing point spotted. How about they get like good scripters do do lessons they would get payed in robux and to apply to be a teacher you need to send a message of a link of your "amazing scripture."

Yeah I had that idea too.
Nevertheless the current system needs to be updated. |

| There should be starter scripts, like a hint script (the black bar at the top of the screen), teleport scripts, ect. |

Yes, yes, this is what i'm talking about.
Roblox made a step forward when the introduced their new pre-built map places, they need to take it further. |

Read the wiki. If you don't understand it, you are to unintelligent and not smart enough to learn. Sorry, but that's just a cold hard fact.
"The best part of roblox is that players can construct their own games and worlds using a surprisingly sophisticated tool kit."
The best part is that players can make their own tutorials on how to script and build, using a surprisingly sopishticated tool called, "places." |

The tool kit refers to studio
The wiki is insufficient to learn for a lot of people.
You hear teachers talk about methods of learning and looking and reading is just one that many can't learn from effectivly. What about those where it doesn't sink in. Dismissing them as idiots is a big mistake and if you do then well that just shows what kind of person you are. |

I'm most likely older than you.
Plus you clearly didn't read the article, I've built levels using UT3 Editor. I've even experimented with Steam's SDK.
This is not about me, it's about the people who simply can't script due to the lack of support.
Not everyone is intelligent but do we give up on them? In school the "special" kids are always given support. We live in a society that helps the weak and teaches those who don't understand.
Why is there not a similar system in roblox? |

its not like they are making it easier to build without studio. they are adding a bunch of tools that are solely based on the "new" terrain generation. rarely any games that are made with the terrain generator and its tools get a lot of visits. BECAUSE IN THE END THEY ARE ALL BASICALLY THE SAME. not to mention the big bulky blocks and the barely responding resize tool, the lack of an anchor tool
but enough complaining from me and back to the topic:
this a good idea. it should be added
but sadly they are too busy making hats and bc only features in a desperate attempt to make more money.

Support.
ROBLOX has recently inspired me to get into coding (php, html, html5, css, css3, mysql, etc) and lua. But yet I never learned a single bit of coding from them; there wiki need improvement.
