We've seen it with bricks, why not ROBLOXians?
Let's bring it to the main point- notice when your going down a steep hill and your ROBLOXian rapidly makes short fall animations? Yeah, let's take that to a certain game we all know: Sonic The Hedgehog. Loop 'de loops we won't go to (cause that's too far), but if we are going downhill, our ROBLOXians should tilt towards the current platform and begin to run, instead of the regular walking animation. Since the potential kinetic energy is being released at the current hill, it begins to rapidly increase our speed as a result. Sort of like the boost of Modern Sonic games, except we should have some more control over it.
When the kinetic energy is released as we go downhill, we should be able to kind of control that speed. While this is happening, our ROBLOXian kinda moves itself. Since the hill is down at us, let's say the camera is pointed behind our ROBLOXian's back. As we pick up speed, we should be able to stop it. Since the camera is aimed at the back of us, we would push down to slide our feet (10%-30% by max of tripping, greater if speed is higher) and attempt to stop ourselves. We then could move regularly as we could, but still can pick up speed either way.
If we're going uphill, we'll decline a little in speed. We can't do it all the way though, cause it would make some games impossible. Plus, we wouldn't want to be sliding on our butts down the mountain we probably were hiking in!
Post what you would like to see, and what you wouldn't like seeing. (And don't just say all of it stinks, give me a reason.)

I don't support uphill and downhill speed changes, but i do support robloxians tilting based on what they're standing on.

I thank for the support and I can see your concerns. This will most likely be ironed out by the admins once they perfect the idea.

This would look very akward on very steep slopes. Nice try though!

Err, if it was too steep then they'd probably just fall off.

I'm with Serpent. I , for one, do not "Run" down a hill. Most of the time; I don't even tilt. (These are IRL points, just fyi.) Also, some games could have issues with the speed boost from going down a hill, such as those that involve running from a ball or series of balls; and having to hide inside a crevice to let it or them pass. You could miss the hole if they force a speed change from going downhill.

This could ruin the cartooniness of Roblox.

Err, aren't there speeding wall references where the game is completely flat and you still run away from it as fine?

Yes. Have the player's leg's tilt, not the entire figure.

I am not hating; I just don't see this being a valuable feature for Roblox... Infact, perhaps pointless, even negative for the community.

It doesn't make sense when you fling out of an airplane when jumping out of your seat. All it does is throw you to a corner, or even worse, you go flying across the map.

Err, that's a different story. We just fly out through the bricks like crazy- ROBLOX does have to fix that, but I'm not talking about player movements on large fast-moving unanchored bricks, this is about how we move around down steep platforms.
Oh and Rubiks, that's a nice suggestion, but the position will look funny. Not to say that I don't support it, it's just that since ROBLOXians don't have many connecting body parts (the TMNT turtles do) it will look strange depending on how steep the platform is.

This update will take a extrodinary amount of time (1) It will add more lag (negative) then the "realisticness" you desire that will only slightly improve the game (2). This idea has many flaws that would need to be adressed; it does not get along with the other physic attributes of roblox (3). Sorry pal, nice concept, however. |

What tweaks would you prefer then? I won't mind at all, since I did ask for feedback.
