Look at the latest blog post and note the positive reviews on there. http://blog.roblox.com/2012/11/roblox-in-the-press-the-new-york-times-and-more/
Of course you're going to disagree with me and whine about how terrible it is for you on the site, but understand that the reviews are only going over the main objective of Roblox: having fun.
The kids who were mentioned in the New York Times post weren't foruming. They weren't item trading. They weren't raiding an enemy war clan. They were just playing a game, and that was the sole purpose of this site back then, and it still is.
The reason we don't find Roblox as much "fun" anymore is because we're too involved in other areas of the site. If we're constantly building the next great place, we're throwing in foruming to our schedule to hopelessly promote it. If you're the creator of a war clan, you're making uniforms and advertisements and dealing with the angry crowds who have also slipped down the beaten path and lost interest in the "fun" aspect of Roblox.
Perhaps some of you remember Neopets or Club Penguin or the (oh god i'm going to say it) early days of Minecraft. They were just about caring for a virtual animal, or waddling around meeting people and playing games, or building a house out of cobblestone. When the extra features were thrown in over the course of time, the silver lining diminished and we have deserted playgrounds that not even the media cares about anymore.
I'm setting up a challenge for myself. I'm going to go for a few days soon without visiting the forums or checking the Catalog or scanning my group walls, because I never did any of that when I first played Roblox. Instead, I'm going back to square one and doing nothing but finding a good front page game and getting acquainted with it.
I know that no one really isn't going to join me, because having friends follow you around sort of misses the point of how newbies first began playing: They were nobodys wandering around trying to have a good time.
I invite people to try this out for themselves when they're ready and see if they appreciate Roblox more when they're not interacting with all of the negative folks on the forums or in other areas of the site. I hope to find new friends and understand how to play Roblox again.
Wish me luck. Somehow.

Totally wrong. The one thing that ROBLOX stands out for is it's large amount of variety. Has something that can suit everyone's interests. Whether that be clothes making, foruming, scripting, building, playing, or item-collecting, it's the users choice to define the game and define it with whatever they enjoy.
People have always been complaining about how old Roblox was the best. Even in 2008. Just get over it. It's a never-dying fad. |

| I agree, roblox shouldn't be violent in my opinion, roblox wasn't always like this, I was young when I started, and war games weren't popular. Clans and groups did their business privately, and didn't interfere with other users. Now its, "Get as many people to get rank up." And users sending you messages saying their group will treat you equally. I went to the group and sent a request, they promised I would be higher than a private, they didn't even accept my enter request... I went off topic didn't I? -.- |
