*"I have, with my own eyes, seen the poison seep into our world and slaughter our people. I tried to warn them, but they were blind to their impending demise. In my dying breath, I scream 'Why God? Why have you abandoned us in our time of need?' Alas, there was no answer"*
**BASIC INFO** THREAD NAME: Requiem Aeternam Dei
GENRE: Post-Apocalyptic/Dieselpunk
TIMEFRAME Victorian-style Era
HISTORY: An alternate universe where the British empire never dissolved, and an authoritarian monarchy imposed power over the rest of the world. The Industrial Revolution never stopped and became ever more advanced and efficient for its timeframe. Though, it is only available to the rich and influential. The lower castes of society are left with the exact same tools and machinery they've had for thousands of years, their hands, their hammers and their hoes. After the disasters many were killed off in the blink of an eye. [NOTE: Not all of the plot/history was told.]
**The "Sickness":** Not all of the monsters and spirits were visible to the naked eye. A far more deadly, scary and.. inevitable plague descended upon the world after the happening. Known only as the plague, few survive it and it is believed to be caused by bad spirits.
**Hexodorium-9 Classification of Threat**
**Docilis:** A level of classification to describe monsters that will usually stay away from humans, unless forcibly prevoked and/or frightened the opposing human/monster may attack it. These monsters are usually small in size, though travel in packs. Though, do not underestimate these monsters, they will catch you in surprise.
**Violentus:** A level of classification to describe more aggressive monsters that do not have a high level of patience. Though they do not attack on sight, they attack anything that gets within a marginal distance of it. Be wary.
**Saevus:** A level of classification to describe monsters that will attack on sight, leaving you to an inch of your life. Do not travel to Saevus-alerted zones without heavy rifles and a group of people to watch your back. Stay highly alert in these zones.
**Infensus:** A level of classification to describe monsters that hunt you the moment you step in it's territory. These monsters are known to have keen senses, able to smell human scent from nearly a mile away. They will hunt you down and mercilessly kill you, up to a week after you leave it's territory.
**Mortalis:** A level of classification to describe monsters that exceed or peak the very limitations of our brain. These monsters defy laws of physics and matter, able to have supernatural powers. These monsters are able to kill hundreds of men within seconds. Never, EVER enter a Mortalis's territory or you will be dead, for these monsters are known to track a single human until they have successfully killed them. On occasion, these monsters will not stop after killing the human they tracked, but start to kill that human's entire bloodline.
**Hexodorium-8 Classification of Creature Abnormality and Behavior**
**Parasitus:** A monster that possesses or inhabits the host, usually using them or it as a mode of transport. Most people infected with a Parasitus are doomed, but some are known to be sentient and co-exist with their host. All Parasitus have their own agenda, if sentient, which makes them all the more deadly and intelligent.
**Hellacious:** We've talked about pure hell, haven't we? Well, it just gets worse. This doesn't kill you in a second, or whatever, but its particularily killing your mental side, giving demonic illusions. Eventually, its either suicide, or you ripping to shreds.
*The rest of the book is burnt...*
**Hexodorium-7 Classification of Abnormal Creatures**
**CLOCKW3RK:** An advanced golem-like bronze mechanical machine that emits an advanced human-made chemical that supports the weight of the heavy machinery, as well as making it look like an eerie mechanical ghost. There is also no point hiding from this monstrosity, for it has an advanced A.I that constantly adapts. Though [CLASSIFICATION: Violentus]
**Arachne:** A beautiful young lady, in a striking red dress, pale, and slender. She has eyes of pure white, and 8 long, spiderlike legs erupting from her shoulders. The legs often mimick her hand and arm motions, and the human part of her is suspended two feet above the ground. 6 of the spiderlegs are used to keep her suspended, and for basic walking. The other two legs, in the front, are pointed, for stabbing her prey and for advanced climbing and maneuvering. She is capable of human speech, and often is found in the trees and forests. [CLASSIFICATION: Infensus]
**Siren:** These creatures, beautiful on the surface, the only thing more attractive is their singing. Several sailors have fallen to their enchanting cries, hoping to find love, and eventually finding themselves being devoured by the Siren's razorship grin. These things, often females, have an supernatural natural song that enchants any passerby. These beautiful things, often travel in trios, are like mermaids in the sense that they have a fish tail and a human torso. [CLASSIFICATION: Saevus]
**Atramentum:** . These creatures of pure inky black, stand 7 feet tall with a slouch, according to those who survived them. They have long fingers with sharp white nails. The silhouettes of these creatures look like a man, but didn't appear to be solid. These creatures could lose their form and switch their forms, as liquids, they have no true form. They left things stained black. Basically just things made out of ink, and can change their form, since they are a liquid, and have control over their shape. [CLASSIFICATION: Hellacious]
**Havelies:** A monster with multiple tenctacles that comes from it's mouth that engults the victim in the tenctacles and slowly moves it into its mouth as the victim screams. It is an underground creature that pops out and eats people in short terms and is usually brown or black depending upon the soil. The Haveli stalks its prey for days or just hours before it leaves its victim slowly succumbing to the sign of hopelessness. It leaves its prey vulnerable and very willing to die by the tenctables of the Haveli. Essentially a living nightmare.
**The Rats:** Large, ugly Rats, that carry the Sickness. Tons of these things wallowing in their own filth, spreading the disease to bigger creatures, like The Plague, or Rabies. These rats, in swarms (Docilis) can devour the meat off of your bones in a matter of minutes. The Rats attack only when provoked, they also fit into Docilis because they attack in swarms, but are almost useless alone. The overall look of the Rat is disgusting, often caked with feces, blood, and disease. These are also larger than a normal rat, and have been said to grow up to a foot long.
**Mud Jackals:** Mud Jackals resemble weasels the size of wolves, although they are not entirely rodent, and not entirely canine. They have the teeth and claws of wolves, and the agility and stealth of weasels and ferrets. Although they are hostile if cornered or attacked, they can be tamed and used as guard beasts or hunting dogs. Like wolves, they travel in packs, and their young are called pups. [CLASSIFICATION: Docilis, Violentius when provoked]
**The Ravens:** A surveillance machine, with mechanical wings. These things go around and collect information, descriptions, and appearances of those who are threatening the laws and the so called peace of the new era. These are particularly sneaky, but are utilized both by any forces of spies, or any rulers who are checking in on their citizens.
**Shrouds:** The shroud is a being that warps into the victim and takes control of the human body itself for its little purposes such as killing a man in cold blood. It has cold blue eyes that seem to paralyze you when you look at them allowing it to move in and kill your soul and take your lifeless body for itself. Multiple town leaders have fell for not listening to the legends of the shroud. It is said to have very long nails that look like claws. It covers you in pure blackness. It is a shroud of blackness that some say.
"Alice": Though this monster appears like a innocent little girl, it is a demon from the very bowels of hell. This monster will fill your minds with thoughts that make you want to commit suicide the very instant you get within the radius of the monster, which is around a feet or so. If you see this monster, run as FAST as you can. It will not stop until you are dead, or at least close enough to death. It's true appearance is no memory a normal person should EVER have. It's appearance is a small brunette girl who is around 6 holding a teddy bear with her left arm. [CLASSIFICATION: Mortalis + Hellacious]
**Ara'aken:** A massive "octopus like" monster, capable of devouring the biggest of whales whole. It is rumored to be a kilometre in diameter. It is easily manipulateated, but purely brutish in its mannerisms. It often preys on larger sea creatures but will attempt to destroy anything that crosses its path. [CLASSIFICATION: Violentus]
**Aviel:** It is often mistaken for a fish but instead it is a monster that when eaten, it eats you instead, so to speak. It first breaks out of its 'shell' whilst in your digestive system, multiple little wormlike(nematode) creatures burst out and enter the person's bloodsteam slowly making their way into the internal organs. Each one go to a different organ slowly eating the organ by itself and growing into another Aviel which bursts out of the person when they had eaten the organ itself. The person usually will have multiple holes in their chest and head. They are signs of they had an Aviel colony in them at one point. Eaten alive until the man or female dies. It is purely parasitic in nature, and without living hosts it could not sustain itself or successfully reproduce.[CLASSIFICATION:]
Carouser: If you look up in the sky, a common sight to see is the Carouser flying around. Legends say the Carouser used to be an average, peaceful animal until the Sickness twisted it into the monstrocity it is today. It is a small avian with sickly green feathers, a single foot, and 5 black, soulless eyes. It's rare to find one alone, as it is always in a flock. As innocent as they seem, do not underestimate their power. A flock can devour a human in less than a minute. [CLASSIFICATION: Docilis]
**Sentry:** Rumours say the monarch kidnaps sheep from unaware farmers to turn them into Sentries. No longer are they aimless animals, now literal ruthless killing machines made for the sole purpose of protecting sensitive information from the hands of the rebels. Their minds were wiped clean, their wool either dyed a darker colour or permanetly shaved off, and special mechanical enhancements are added. These attachements not only allow the Sentries to tell who is an intruder, but also attack the intruders with their ear-shattering bleat and crush their bones with their bronze skulls. [CLASSIFICATION: Saevus]
**Imposter:** Just when you thought your home was safe, your arm is gnawed off by an Imposter. These organic bedsheet-like creatures wrap themselves around a piece of furniture (For example, a dresser, a door, or a chest, although it can be anything that's wooden) waiting for their prey to touch them. Once they do, their teeth start chewing until they are able to get a good grip on them before wrapping themselves around the human and devouring them, leaving only their skeleton. As dangerous as they are, a diligent human easily notice what is an Imposter by looking for teeth. If someone finds something that looks like an Imposter, throwing dirt on it will cause it to choke and flee. [CLASSIFICATION: Violentus]
**Ghast:** Nothing more than skin, hollowed out bone and a lot of explosive elements wrapped up inside of it. A ghast is can range from around a metre long and half a metre wide to giganic proportions. The largest ghast ever seen was thought to be a kilometre long, and soon exploded its acidic and incendiary on the unfortunate city of Toro. The Ghast has the ability to inflate itself and manipulate gasses inside to to rise, fall and propel itself through space. They usually live in "colonies" of hundreds around an extremely large ghast in comparison which is the mothering figure. Once a ghast becomes too big, and is not destroyed (a rare occurence) it finds its own territory to found its own colony. Not hostile until it feels like its colony is in danger, they were a pest before the apocalypse, but their numbers had never grown so rapidly before and never individually to such monstrous sizes. They have been renamed "Gas-balls" by fearful airship pilots who know just how dangerous these things can be when navigating the skies, even though they are docile until you get close enough to be percieved as an attacker. [CLASSIFICATION: Docilis, Violentus when provoked]
**Wraith:** The wraith is a fearsome creature, a tall formless black mass covered in dark rags and robes, roughly seven or eight feet tall. It feeds on negative emotions, mostly sorrow and fear, haunting and stalking human survivors. If a survivor discovers he is being stalked by a wraith, other survivors will shun him in fear. When the victim is sucked almost dry of emotions, the wraith will approach him or her, and force the survivor to look directly into where its face should be, absorbing all that is left of said human. There is no known way to kill a wraith, although some believe if survivors band together and attempt to project positive emotions towards it, it will flee. [CLASSIFICATION: Mortalis]
**Ogre:** Myth says that the Ogres are the remnants of the cannibals that practiced dark magic in the Maloran Cave. This race of mono-gender primal barbarians can no longer be described as "human". They stand at around 6'4, with a very muscular build and very pale complexion. They generally stick in tribes, scattered in pockets of land away from the cities of the humans, or underground in the Maloran Caves. However, when there is a need for food, the Ogres start raiding cities, leaving no human alive. The meat is stored up as food, and the bones are used as armour and weapons.
**Hexodorium-6 Classification of Remaining Civilization**
**Arcadia "Ar-cay-dea":** The Arcadia is a conglomerate fleet of the surviving navies and commercial vessels that were not taken out by the sickness or the happenings. With strict containment procedues, military defence and skilled navigators and tradesmen, it is self sustaining and creates electricity from the whale oil and whale fat produced through the many whaling vessels that were the pride of the navy. It's one of the few last bastions of society, being nomadic and seperated in coverning of seperate vessels. There are many factions within conglomerate of Arcadia.
**Helenois "Heler-noy" :** Totally loyal to the British Monarchy. The largest sky city (a 3km long airship) with full military capabilities and civillian accommodation to be commissioned. Before the plague hit, it was already off and going. It hasn't landed since, currently housing the last surviving remnants of the monarchy and transmitting radio broadcasts from within the hull. It has large decks devoted to farming and has about 10 million tonnes of stored food.
**Welhem "Vel-hum":** An outlying fort in once a golden age now ran down in shambles by broken pallisides, wooden logs to be exact with it being pointy on top. Welhem is a cluster of broken down tents and cabins that once formed a defence against a nation once long forgotten in time. It is now occupied by refugees and outcasts from multiple cities, it is home to many criminals and it isn't surprising to be dead in the morning. It rests in a crest of a mountain with occasional green grass. The town is more dangerous to humans than monsters. Four cannons surround the fort itself protecting it from invading monsters that occasionally also take around one to four people.
**Calminso "Kal-min-so":** Calminso is a carved out town inside a mountain. Factories span the inside with stone houses and open windows. It has a complex road system in which most roads are just actually alleyways. One huge fortified area is in the middle in which is guarded by personal royalists in which are loyal to the Calminso crown. A man founded a city and crowned himself. There is one huge gladiator area in the town in which pits monsters against eachother for blood and betting to gain money which in this city is ammunition, weapons, anything deadly enough to kill someone. They feast upon mushrooms and monsters themselves.
**The Maloran Cave Network "Ma-lore-an":** An extremely large cave network expanding under a multitude of cities, seas and mountains. Noone truly knows how large it is or what really goes on down there. But there is a little folk tale that went around before the plague. Evil magic was practised down there by cannibals hateful of the rest of the world that had shunned them and remained an outsider to their "barbaric civilization". Many tribes are in the caverns, all built on the last, upon layers upon layers and years and years of living at the bowls of the world. Post-apocalypse, it's said that within the Maloran cave network are the only ways to destroy the evil that has befallen the world. Maloran inhabitants range from survivors, to tribesmen, to cannibals to squatters and to things that are not entirely human but not entirely monster but complete abomination.
**Nivis "Niv-is":** What's left of Nivis is the destroyed remains of the old rural housing laying around two miles outside of the actual city. The city itself is horribly destroyed and is extremely dangerous to navigate. Even so, the locals still scavenge from the long lost city to try to maintain the rural housing. The freezing weather in Nivis makes the whole situation even worse. Snow storms blow through that can freeze men to death in only a few minutes. This is another factor that makes looting in the city hard considering it's a four mile round trip to the city for supplies.
**Fleet Posideious "Po-sy-dee-us":** The water equivalent to Helenois, a bunch of battleships, loose cannons and multiple merchant ships travel in one single fleet called the Posideious or to the people it means "Tyrant of the Sea" to the average person, as they sail to multiple towns on the coast, human populated or not and raid said cities for food and supplies because they don't grow it themselves. They are an armada of pirates that scavenge all they can and keep it for themselves. These pirates are relentlessly hunted down by lawkeepers and sometimes ships are destroyed by the loyalists, rebels or their victims. They are the remnant ships of the British Armada. The sea one of course that is.
**Uqiuel "Ewe-qwe-wel":** A town that sits upon 5 rivers. Those rivers lead to the ocean allowing it to fish for food and demons alike. Uqiuel happens to be a sight of a mishap with multiple gunpowder storages and cannons. Chaos happened here and was no different for any place else. A rebellion lives in this town which has multiple factorys that produce ammunition, weapons and other items. It has farms inside the city and has a well equiped to fight. It is one of the more alive cities besides the fact most of the outside of the city is burnt down or destoryed by the British or monsters. A multiple of houses protect the inner city from everything else. They have bridges spanning the rivers and the populance carry weapons out in the open.
**Omenata "Om-enat-e":** The fourth building is actually a large mall survivors have converted into a almost mini-city. crushed by a falling airship that ran out of fuel, the majority of the crew has died, and what's left of the original 150 man crew is 4 Officers, the Captain, 20 Soldiers, and a few Midshipmen. The Airship is surprisingly still intact, largely due to the expert piloting done by Courageous' Captain. The few men who died were either on deck and were flung over, or were crushed within the lower 2 floors of the ship.
**Defuncti "De-foonk-ti":** There are rumors of a so-called "monster factory", an organic city where the various dangerous creatures of the land breed and multiply and an ever-increasing rate. They say that, even if the Maloran Caves collapse, the never ending torrent of death that the Sickness brings will continue because of this city. Expeditions has been sent to try and find Defuncti, but either the expedition returns unsuccessful or they are never seen or heard from again. People who claim to be survivors say that the city looks like the remains of a once proud Metropolis, now corrupted by the creatures who now inhabit it. Any other details are conflicting and disputed, as majority of the expedition survivors suffer from shell-shock.
**Hexodorium-5 Requiem** Not much is known about Requiem except he is a semi-omniscent being, not of human nature. Requiem has a special talent in Divination, able to predict the future. He holds a book-like object with an unknown language in his left hand, and he holds an object that has a balance scale frame, but instead of having the platforms to put weigh items on, they are pendulums. This pendulum scale is his symbol. His body is made of a pure, white light with a black bone-like structure over his light-body. The bones occasionally whisper, and they are able to talk, which they echo is voice. Requiem also has a half-black half white cloak draping him like a robe, with a hood. He also has 1 glowing white wing, and 1 black wing that has a dark shroud glowing around it. He is extremely powerful, and has many forms, although decides to represent himself this way towards humans.
