Okay, well Fallout 3 had the better plot. In general it felt more fun.
HOWEVER, it had many less features. Such as True Aim down sights. Instead when attempting to ADS you would simply zoom in a bit. There are also no weapon modifications that you can apply to weapons in F3. Other features that don't exist are more companion interaction with the Companion wheel. A lot less items in general and item creation through the reloading station (ammo) and campfire (food, consumable items) however the workbench (usable items such as weapons and armour) is in the game, there are many other small features missing too.
But as I said, the storyline itself is much better constructed in F3 and much more gripping. I recommend playing F3 first and if it gets you gripped definitely get the DLC's, if you like the fallout games the DLC's always feel like something to do and are quite rewaring (For both games.)
After playing F3 and finishing it if you enjoy by then playing FNV the extra additions should keep you gripped.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In summary, get F3 first due to better story, but lack of features, then after finishing get FNV for the additional features which can keep you going if you really enjoyed F3. |

| FNV has more choices but the main story is so cliche. |
