Is there a function that will go through the players inventory (Even if player not wearing item) and see if the requested item is there?

I believe, and don't hold me to this, that you can check if a player has an item through badge service.

Yes, you can check through BadgeService, but the OP was looking for a method that returns a list of IDs from what a user owns.

"and see if the requested item is there?" So I just assumed. In answer to what may be the actual question then, No. You can't get what is in the person's inventory, you can only see if a specified object is there.

Wish Roblox would just give us read-only permissions to a player's stats, inventory, etc instead of taking forever to come out with it as a scripting update a year later.

Well that would be a massive load on the servers to allow such a thing, with all the games and game servers running to allow them all to access the stats servers could potentially shutdown alot of Roblox functionality.
