[BIOME GENERATION] Selecting which "Biome" you'd like it to generate. As a few examples:
1: Arid -> Largely comprised of Stone and Sand material
2: Plains -> Mostly grass, patches of Stone and/or Sand.
3: Swamp -> 25/75 between Grass and Water generation, respectively.
4: Mountainous -> Almost 100% Rock, with long, wide, tall "Mountains" sticking up here and there.
5: Coastal -> 1-2 block thick sand underlining covered in 8-10+ thick water blocks. Sand gets thicker as it progresses, eventually leading into a "Beach", which is mostly sand with a few grass patches.
There should be more, and I'll gladly create more upon request, these are just a few starting ones to get this idea on the road.
[TREE GENERATION] The landscape trees in stamper, not Anaminus' fancy trees. A percentage of those generated, where 0% is no trees, and 100% is what we commonly think of as a Jungle; comprising of large trees touching leaves. 50% would be about half-an half. I like to think of this as a Plain (Large, flat area with almost no trees) with forests dotting it here and there.
[LANDMASS GENERATION] The ability to select what kind of land mass we would like to have. Such as, Island, Archipelago, Continent. This would, basically, select the basic size of the land mass. Island is rather simple; a little dot of land comprising from 1/10 to 1/5th of the total terrain size, all clustered together. Archipelago would be a chain of these, with a maximum of 5 island landmasses. Continent is... well... a large landmass comprising from 1/3 to taking up all of the terrain boundaries.
[SOIL DEPTH] What I mean, is this: Lets say we had this as a feature. We put "1" as the depth, and you get a single block of Soil, then under that, everything is Rock/Stone. If I set it as 2, there are 2 grass/soil blocks, then stone. 3 is 3 soil/grass then stone, and etc. 0, would cause there to be no soil, and everything to be rock. There will also be a choice, "None" which would cause this to have no effect.
[CURRENTS] Improvised Oceanic currents inside of the terrain generator. This would cause all of the water to take on a certain force direction and power. Ie, "NegY" and "Max" would cause all of the generated water to have a maximum negative Y effect, much like if we was to make it with Stamper.
This list is not entirely complete, and I plan on adding onto it as time goes on. Your thoughts so far?

The terrain limits are much too small for that. Selecting a singular biome seems more appropriate.

-facepalm to oblivion- That first sentence. Where to begin... Alright, here. "Don't let it be like minecraft". As far as I know, Minecraft does NOT have these features I discussed. You are welcome to prove me wrong though, as I do not play that game simply due to how absolutely boring it is.
Stimulating them to make their own terrain? Right. That point was destroyed before you even thought it; terrain generator is already in existence, this is just an improvement to make it more efficient for those of us who just want a quick, well-done terrain for a random building place.

I like the idea.. But with the current rate it takes for me to generate a general plain of land it may take a while.. Though it may be by laptop.. Even though I have a very VERY good laptop.. Ah well. I support nonetheless.

All this stuff is semi-optional. By that, I mean you can leave the settings on their "Default" to have the same effect we get now, this just allows for further customization.
