Channel And Global Chat.
As of now, servers are extremely isolated and by themselves. There is no real way to create a channel and chat with everyone that's in a game (Including other servers). I'd like to see this implemented, chatting is an essential part of gameplay.
I would make a GUI demo of what this could look like, but it's extremely early in the morning. I need to take some rest. Ciao.

| It'll take some time for the chat to 'cross' between severs. |

This can be scripted into games, I've seen it. But if one post needed to go to 2 servers...
E.G Player1 wanted to talk to Player2 and Player3 on different chat servers. Player2 doesn't want to hear what Player3 says, nor does Player3 with Player2.
Player2 and Player3 both get messages sent form Player1, but Player3 and Player2 don't get messages from each other. Hence, there would be lag. And, if you have slow internet, this could cause a problem.
So this would need a lot of thought put into it, but it could be possible. |

Seeing as sometimes there are 2000 people in a game, with the average of half of the people talking every 30 seconds, this is 1000/30 = 333 chats per second. Wait, what? Yes.
If you think half of the people 30 per second isn't a good estimation, if 1/10 of the people talked every 60 seconds, this would be 200/60 chats per second, which is about 3.3 or so. Still way too much.
No, this wouldn't be a good thing.
Anyhow, I'm quite sure they're working on 'WhisperChat', which I think would be talking to one person. If you look at Object Browser>Player there's a property, function or whatever-so called 'WhisperChat', 'this item is still under development, use for experimental use only.' |
