Disclaimer: It is pretty much impossible for a zombies to become reality, and even less so for an apocalypse to happen. This is just for some entertainment.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Assuming the zombies are similar to that of The Walking Dead's zombies.

-Fairly slow, rotting corpses
-Attracted by sound
-Everyone is infected, but turn at death

Would you stay mobile with a small group, or would you settle in the wilderness with a large group? Maybe something in between?

I find it interesting to think of plans for scenarios like this, personally.

1. find two or three other survivors
2. board up a house with lots of supplies
3. survive, pick off strays, and wait for the u.s. marines to do their things.

considering my mom is a bank manager, we could just wait it out within the vault, with supplies of course, and in addition, it wouldnt last long since zombies would probably decompose in the sun rather quickly.

@kyle & hello

I see you two are not familiar with The Walking Dead, as the military is defunct and there is no cure.

@Super

Not exactly an in depth plan.

Come on, guys... I figured at least one person would be able to come up with an in depth plan.

its not a cure, its common sense, whats left of the zombie muscle tissues would likely rot in the sun, due to them having no use of their organs.

The Walking Dead's zombies are not like this. Remember, I put a disclaimer in the beginning stating that we are not thinking scientifically here and this is just for entertainment.

Get car, pack it with everything we need, go to country ( Less people in country = less zombies to deal with )

I'd have to type a word wall to explain everything

First, Secure the nearby school and surrounding neighborhood. I'd wall the neighborhood off, And the School's field. This field would serve as an excellent form of farm. Across the street there's a gas station minimart. This would be filled with empty boxes and such as a decoy, and people would be stationed to kill and loot those who enter. The people living within this complex would be people from the school and neighborhood who were in there area still, naturally.

word walls are encouraged

@banshee

interesting plan

i suppose it could work, unless the walls aren't very sturdy (which is very possible. they may seem sturdy and even support someone's weight, but it's very possible for it not to withstand a siege)

i'll start typing mine out

(kyle here)

oh

well, then, i guess survive as long as we can until we have to make a break for it

perhaps go north, as canada would be relatively zombie-free, as the apocalypse most likely originated somewhere in the u.s.

My first plan of action is to secure the perimeter of my house. No one gets in, no one gets out, not at least until they release more info of how the zombie disease spreads and what not. I wouldn't save everyone, because it's an apocalypse for a reason. Every man for himself.
Once information about the zombies is released, I set out. Not with guns or any sound making weapons, but with a bat, and another blunt yet powerful weapon. We'd take our car out of the city, looking for any survivors, checking to see if they're infected or not. If they are, I'd bash their heads, if not, the more the merrier! I'd look for certain types of people...carpenters, soldiers, ex. soldiers, doctors, and engineers.

We'd take all the gas from the pumps, moving into a truck, stock up on cans of beans, vegetables, meat, etc, anything that's canned and lasts long, while taking all the contained water we can. We'll head out towards Hoover Dam all the way in the west, because scientifically speaking, if the power runs out everywhere, the areas surrounding Hoover Dam will continue to run for 60-70 freaking years due to the enormous generators, which would give us a huge head start. Instead of going for guns, which attract zombies per shot, silenced weapons such as bats, swords, knives, and maybe some silenced guns would aid us on our way. We'd set up camp nearby any food place. The first thing we'd do is go for security. Hopefully picking up even more carpenters, engineers, and maybe some body builders, we'd go to work by placing ten foot tall fences around an enormous perimeter, encompassing the store we use and hopefully fields around it, and a large house if possible. We'd do that by taking metal or wooden debris and with the professionals, we'd be able to protect ourselves from stray zombies, though it wouldn't be strong enough to stop an enormous wave of them. Once the fence is set up, we'd go to work on creating sleep barracks, places to live while simultaneously gathering livestock and seeds to plant, forming a farm of some sort. Once that's all done, more security will be added to protect from massive amounts of zombies and even plunderers. Now moats of fire won't work, since they'd just attract more zombies, and realistically speaking, who the hell knows how to drive a chopper or a tank? The best defense: stone walls. It may take some time, but by now, we'd have gathered even more people. We'd create a point for the gate, where we can open it up from the inside only for parties wandering outside in search of things such as more building material. Everyone would join in together until the farm is secured by huge stone walls, of course we'd get construction machines to help us too. Eventually, we'd find a way to keep the electricity running for longer, and we'd make a colony, now harboring actual guns for further defense; besides, no zombies are going to be able to get through stone walls!

I shall post mine in steps.

Step 1: Gathering

This step is rather obvious. Gather all nonperishable foodstuffs, drinkable liquids, clothing, camping/survival gear, manual tools, power tools, raw materials, and anything else that could be useful from my house as well as my grandparent's house.

Step 2: Rallying

Unlike most, I plan on rallying people together and founding a pseudo-town. I like in a well forested area, as well as right next to the Ohio River, it'd be very easy to survive. Maybe north of Griffen Island*. (Lots of forest near the water with nearly no towns nearby. We can either go father into the forest, which would be better defense with less water, or go closer to the highway, which is less defense but easier accessible water.) I suspect this to work as my area has a TON of outdoorsmen and construction workers. If we get them all to gather their tools and materials, we should be able to make a wall fairly quickly.

Step 3: Farming

Obvious step, simply making a farm. A lot of gardeners reside in my city, as I said. This is pretty much large scale gardening.

Step 4: Making Armor

Now, mostly when people think zombie apocalypse they think guns. Not I, as that is nonstrategic. Chainmail is mostly what I had in mind. It may weigh us down, but let's see you bite through chain. Pair that with melee weaponry and we should have a good militia. Melee weapons (Swords and Clubs, mainly) are actually quite easy to make. Our guardsmen for the Town would probably be equipped with bows or crossbows, as well as a one-handed sword whereas mobile troops (which come in handy in the next step) would use two-handed weapons.

Step 5: Reclamation

This step is where we travel to nearby areas and gather useful things from them, to put it simply. Gathering materials such as foodstuffs, barrels (to transfer water), tools, materials, etc.

Perhaps even riding animals, depending on how far we go. (Google Earth shows what looks like farmland close by, but not entirely sure)

Step 6: Survive

*I can't really tell from Google Earth, and It's been a while since I've been near it, so it may not be suitable for building... If not, perhaps Griffen Island and the southern, forested part of Browns Island.

You said the disease may not be spread in Canada, but everyone is infected, so it is.

well, as long as they decapitate all the dead people and make sure there are no zombies entering the borders, we should be fine

but then again, that's very unreasonable

Interesting, but as I explained earlier EVERYONE is infected, the just don't turn until death. (In which case a simple rail spike to the brain solves the problem.)
