To be honest with you, Stephen King.

I have huge respect for Lovecraft though.

Oh, it's all right, not as bad as most say. No scenes that made me jump though.

Jump scenes are bad and lazy. The people who put them in cant do horror and so they attempt to "scare" you by making you jump from things popping out.

I guess that's true. It is a good movie though, far better than the first, in my opinion, it also explains a lot.

I loved "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" if you're at all interested in the universe of "Silent Hill" at the end of the movie you see a prison bus which obviously holds Murphy Pendleton from "Silent Hill: Downpour".

Travis Grady also makes an appearance at the end of the film offering Heather and Vincent a ride.

I much preferred the first film though.

Yeah, the end is hilarious, because Travis goes "I haven't been around here for a long time." And thanks for confirming that the bus did in fact have Murphy on it, my friend and I got into an argument about it.

What bothered me though was the fact that Travis Grady was introduced when there was practically no need; he saved the human Alessa in "Silent Hill: Origins", but in the film's universe it was Thomas Gucci. So they forced the character in probably just for fan service.

I hope to see Murphy in the third film though, he's one of my favourite characters.

The third film could feature Chris trying to find Rose; who in her time in Silent Hill has been battling the cultists, and Murphy; who is trying to escape Silent Hill.

I'm sorry for hijacking this thread; huge Silent Hill fan. :D

I think Travis was for the fans, but his quote was very comical to me for some reason. And I agree, I think the third film will feature Chris and Rose. And it's fine that you joined in, it's a Horror thread, and you meet the mark.

It was funny though I was instantly reminded of Travis' journey into the otherworld, lol. Poor, Travis.

So what's your opinion on 'modern' horror? I know it's a taboo subject for some, but to some extent I love modern horror sure they're gory, and often pointless, it's still a whole lot of fun, or maybe it's just me.

In terms of Media such as Movies, the more mainstream ones are kind of pointless, but fun to watch. In terms of Literature though, I love to read King's newer stuff, his old stuff is great, but the new stuff is awesome. In terms of games though, not a lot of new ones, but the older ones are good, like bio-shock, and silent hill, and I guess fallout might be loosely considered a horror game, thoughts on that?

The earlier Fallout titles perhaps, but the newer ones are quite over-the-top and comedic especially "Fallout: New Vegas" that is until you come across a horrific scene, quite a few that disturbed me, like in Nipton when you come across the bodies in the fires, and the survivors being tied up to rot in the blistering sun.

Fallout is a great balance of comedy, and horror.

My favourites have to be: "Fallout 2" and "Fallout: New Vegas".

Agreed. I've always enjoyed playing the Fallout series blind though, so I'm surprised by anything that happens,

I enjoy classic horror , Stephen King is a favorite of mine. I liked The Amityville Horror , but in a way I enjoyed the 2005 remake more then the original. In the 2005 remake , I enjoyed that they waited and showed Kathy calling the priest to come in and bless the house. In the original they don't show her asking the priest , he just walks into the house. But I do prefer more the original bee scene. Where the priest get's attacked by the bees. The original attack was better.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is also one of my favorite 70's films. Gunner Hansen did a great job as Leatherface. He kept that suspenseful side and thrilling side to him. I hated Leatherface in the Marcus Nispel remake back in 2003 or 2004. He just didn't have the horrifying side to him.

Silent Hill , I think I played that video game at a friend's house once , but I can't remember. I wan't to watch the new 3D movie , but I don't think I'll get around to see it.

I like also Horror/Dramas. Such as: Shutter Island , Hide and Seek , The Lovely Bones. Movies when a horrifying nature to it. Even though it may not seem scary , if you pay attention to how the films is being done and what the people are saying threw little words , it can be very horrifying.

disaster,
I agree with the fact that Hansen did an amazing job, and you should see Silent Hill, and Shutter Island was a good movie too. But have you ever read any Lovecraft?
