The corn stalks wave in their fields, a silent greeting, on the warm breeze. Every second they sway in one direction, and then the other. Every minute, they do this sixty times. Every hour, they do this three thousand, six hundred times, and every day, they do it a whole lot more. Every second, every minute, hour and day, the corn stalks sway, a silent greeting towards your modest cottage, on your modest maize farm.

Some would stand there, staring into the distance, trying to see what lies beyond your fields. If they did, they would see only a palisade of trees, sentinels as silent as the reedy cornstalk denizens they stand around, hand in hand, arm in arm, branch in branch. There are two hundred and sixty two trees around your farm, around the fields where the corn stalks wave in their fields, towards your modest cottage, on your modest maize farm. A silent speech.

Some might wonder what lies beyond the trees then. If you were that curious. But from when your life began, from when everything started for you - from when you can remember, of which is roughly the age of five years, three months, and twenty three days - you heard a blazing voice come from behind the trees. A call to arms, and war. It occurs for vaguely three hundred and eighty beats of your heart at rest, and can reach your ears anywhere on the farm. Your farm. With the modest cottage. With it's hundreds and hundreds of cornstalks - too many to count - waving their silent cheer.

A small few would want to join this call to arms, but you do not. From since you were little, one of the main sources of entertainment on your farm, in your modest cottage, were books. fifty seven books on the history of the war that rises and falls from outside the two hundred and sixty trees that stand guard outside your farm. A bloody battle fought with vicious knives, and teeth and fists. A violent battle that has caused many deaths, many injuries, and is so awful, so horrendous that every soldier must follow policies just not to kill themselves. You hear of them having to feed themselves, something that shocks you because your food has always just been there when you woke up. This concept of being delivered food regularly by unknown sources - due to your lack of guardians or parents - is relitavely normal to you, and the stories of hunting down animals and growing vegetables terrify you. You never had to do that, and you definitely don't want to now. Especially when you don't know what animals are out there. You're only sure that an animal is another living thing, but you've never seen one before, on your cottage, in the fields of corn, that wave every day.

The truth is, that none of it is real. Not a single wave of the corn, or connection of branch, or blare of a call to arms. None of it is the true reality, out there. In fact, the closest thing to you, unless you're on the end of the line, is one block to the left, one block to the right, and a corridor in front and back, for maintinence of your blocks. And all those blocks are exactly the same, each with their two hundred and sixty trees, call to arms that last three hundred and eighty beats of the heart, and fifty seven books on a vicious and bloody war. The only difference are the people inside, but even they all share something, and so do you.

None of you are aware that this is not life. This is just captivity.

_________________________________________

Each and every character in this roleplay, controlled by their respective roleplayers, is not aware that they are in captivity. They are unaware that being fed by unseen forces is not normal, and they don't question it; they do not even comprehend the idea of 'unseen forces'. They are also unaware that normal crops need to be tended to, for these crops are not real, and are made only to sway in the artificial wind. Their only knowledge comes from the books, which specify only vaguely that outside of your boxes, the need to eat food is apparent, and weapons that are modeled after your captors, and not the human weapons you are used to - or would be if you had lived life on earth.

Instead, you live life on a moon very much like Earth, revolving around a much bigger planet called Verena, owned by a race of aliens that have defeated the human race, and now use a great number of them for viewing pleasure, in a form of zoo. A zoo where none of the animals - that's you - are aware that they exist in a box, and have no want to venture otherwise.

But today a great event will occur, for every race has it's rebellious, and although the humans handpicked to be watched from a distance by your captors are in no way rebellious, a number of the captors are. Environmentalists strive to enter the zoo through VR machines connected to the moon-bound robots that rove the zoo, and planet-bound VR masks which the aliens themselves wear, and to do something drastic, which would lead to the freedom of a small number of humans, and begin something both beautiful, and terrible. You are to be freed.

*RULES*

No godmodding. This includes being aware of the outside world, or in anyway questioning the outside world to the point of attempting to venture out of your box. You are not aware of ANYTHING outside, except the utter lie that there is a war going on. All other godmodding rules apply, including in fighting and general roleplaying.

All of your characters are roughly the same age. This age is between fifteen and twenty five. No-one is obscenely young, or moderately old, as the subjects themselves were handpicked to be young from the start, for a longer lifespan, and therefore longer viewing.

You do not have ANY items, apart from a white button up shirt, gender-respective, modest white underwear, brown cord trousers, and both wellingtons (of are useless, as there is no rain in the box) and brown boots. The books are also items, as well as anything your character may have made through sheer curiosity/boredom, but obviously you can't make much from things found in the house of a rural WW1 household; especially seeing as there are no chemicals, medical supplies, or food (unless you stored it for any reason) in the household. Any reason for having extra supplies such as extra food or makeshift 'things' made from broken things around the house must be specified in the 'Extra Items' part of your character sheet - although if you do note anything, I expect them to have a real good reason for having it.

You do not HAVE a name yet. You recognise what names are, but obviously, due to your circumstances, you were never given one. In your curiosity, you may have given yourself one. In which case, please try to make your name old fashioned, as the fake war (possibly the only place your character could have found his name) is basically a much blooder version of WW1.

Please be detailed, from your CS to your posts. It may take more than five seconds to type more than two sentences, but the fact is that if you are committing to this roleplay, you obviously have time on your hands. Use it.

Appearance: Ray stands at a slightly below average hight, and has a small frame. This makes him look rather unimposing. In fact, almost everything about him is in distinctive; from his short brown hair to his dull green eyes, and even to his fair skin, he seems very forgettable.
Personality: Ray is generally lethargic, and unwilling to do anything with no immediate benefit.
Extra Items: Often times he'll have a couple of food items on him, as he doesn't have much of an appetite and thus saves food for later.

Name: Leopold (AWWW YEAH)
Age: Twenty two years of age.
Gender: Male.
Appearance: Leopold is a short man, with hazel eyes with seem to gleam- When he's doing what he wishes. He has brown hair, often un-kept. He is rather pale except around the face, which looks like sunburn really. He's rather.... Plump I could say,
Personality: He's a humble fellow, though at times a little.. pushy. He's lazy every now and then, but he is energetic at times.
Extra Items: He carries a stick around. Sort of like a lucky charm.

(Question, may I have developed a German accent, or are accents out of question? Also, is everything ok?)

((There are no accents because you were born in your box, and therefore you don't understand the concepts of accents. Also, I doubt a person would really be 'humble' if they had never met anyone to be humble with.))

(Ok then. I was thinking it was one big box. Do forgive me. So, remove that and no accent then. By the way, this idea has my support. Creative, in my opinion.)

Appearance: 6ft 1". Blue eyes. Black cropped hair. Lean and fit. Not specificaly muscular though.
Personality: Orderly. Sensible. Practical. Dogmatic.
Extra Items: Since most of the books he's read involve fighting and the millitary, he has modeled his lifestyle as such. He has an iron bucket with a leather strap used as a helmet. Carries a broom and pretends it's a gun.

(If this is good then let the mind bending reality shifting thing commence!)

((Alright I think that's good. Of course, people can join until the escape actually occurs, and this will only occur when I say it occurs. Up until then please roleplay your average lives within your cells.))

I stand and stare at the corn, like every other day. Sitting with my back to the wall of the cottage, staring, and counting each time the corn moves from one side to the other. One, two, three. So on, so forth. It goes on and on and on, every day. It never does anything. And it definitely can't talk.

I suppose that's alright. I prefer the company of peaceful if silent cornstalks to the psychopathic babblings heard of a crazed gunman in my last strokes of life, as I am struck down by some terrible conflict. I much prefer that.

You continue staring, as minutes pass. Soon, you begin your count again.

Alan started his usual daily jog. First thing in the morning, always at the same time, every day. He put on his helmet and shoulderedd his "rifle" and began to jog around the corn field up to the line of trees. He had done this every day since he was. Wait, when was it... Doesn't matter. He began his jog and started singing "rule britannia". After all, there was a war on, and he wanted his country's troops to win.

((There is no concept of countries or Britain. I apologise for not making this apparent, but when I say 'based on WW1/2', I mean the horrific things that happened. It's not particularly specified on what sides there are; and your character most definitely wouldn't know which side he was on.))

Leopold woke up. He was taking a nap on the ground, as usual. He sat up, staring at the corn. Swaying. He picked up his lucky twig, and twirled it around. He held it like a rifle, like he saw in one of his books. He decided to go for a little walk. Of course he wouldn't go far from the little cottage.

(What about the books. He read books about WW1/2 and as his character attempts to embody his heros. Surely he would pick a side or country from the book that the character is from and want them to "win" even though that book "isn't" real?)

((The books don't specify on countries or sides. They just tell of a horrific war, with nothing apart from brief names, stories of horror and such. The captors would not have created the incentive to win because then the captive may have wished to escape, and would have been aware that they had to 'escape' from somewhere. That's the whole point. It's so vague on everything but the horror of the war that the general opinion is that they don't want to leave.))

I awoke, slowly. yawning as I forced my eyes open. The sun was shining and the day seemed like another slow, uneventful one. Perfect.

My eyes blinked and fluttered as my vision focused. I've been day-dreaming again. I pushed myself up off of the stool I was sat on and looked out the window. A war, a war going on for ages. We hadn't received any news of how the war was going but I hoped everything was okay.
