My problem with Runescape is how much GRINDING there is.
It shouldn't take HUNDREDS of hours to level up one out of 25 skills to 99.
The quests are the best ever in a game though.

I am an on again off again RS player I either hate it or I love it.
Right now I'm not very involved and I think the EOC will make sure I never get back into it.
Some of my levels...

I used to bot a few months ago.
After about 300 hours of botting I got Fletching to 94, then confessed to the forums that I botted with a wordwall thread explaining why I botted.
They ignored it and banned me for two weeks. They very lightly rollbacked my Fletching skill (To about 85), but they very heavily rollbacked the skills I put my blood, sweat, and tears into (Prayer, Combat, Construction, Magic, etc). At that point I just gave the finger to Jagex and unsubbed.

| It's your fault for botting. That kills the point of fun. |

Correction @Bawbby
Spending hours and hours on RS doing the same consecutive action over and over again in order to achieve greatness killed RS's fun.
I quit after user "Ach" - A local H/C player on W100 Macsed me a winning santa hat pot taking the last dash of RSGP I owned. |

I don't find spending hundreds of hours repeating the same click just so that I can get to the good quests any fun AT ALL.
Underground Pass was my favorite and most hated quest ever. I love how I truly felt like someone powerful and how fresh it was (no back&forth running), but I HATED how much I failed despite far outlevelling the Agility requirement. It took me SIX hours just to complete the quest.
I still have nightmares of that song "Iban". It's a good song, but not when you hear it restart because you failed for the hundredth time.

| With that logic, the game is very boring. Why would you bother doing anything if "doing the same consecutive action over and over again to achieve greatness" kills the fun of the game? The skills are pretty much the game. |

Because the quests and minigames are VERY good.
Also the general sense of exploration. I have gone from the Fremennik Isles to Sophanem.

@bawbby
For me the goal in the game was to get Rich enough to the point I could log on and just have fun screwing around.
It is 99.1% IMPOSSIBLE to get rich off of having fun in RS. |

I see what you mean Over, but I would still be very bored if I just cheated to get 99s. You are supposed to train for fun; that's what Runescape was all about.
deatha, I don't see why so many runescape players think it's all about getting rich. I played from 2006 to 2009 and only made 1 million coins, but I still found it fun. |

The game got very boring when i had done all the free quests and only thing left to do was grind and get money by mining or killing cows and selling the hides...
And i just realised it was 6 years ago when i quit runescape... Wow. |

| Well skilling is fun for a while but once you're at the level where it takes 100's of thousands EXP till next level it gets too repetitive and very boring. |

| Why would you quit on the game's prime-time, commander? Runescape was best in early 2007. |

Unfortunately, as I said, training isn't fun.
The only one that was somewhat fun was Construction, but that was so expensive that even with my 3 mil gold, I would run out of money instantly. Also houses were useless.

How to beat Runescape 2012: Step 1) Find a credit card. Step 2) Buy spins. Step 3) ??? Step 4) Profit.
Sadly, this is so true now. Pay to win is slowly coming. |

| Well, after mid-2007 the game began going "downhill", as most people on 2006scape say it, but 2007 just had a feel to it that made you want to play. Same goes for 2006. |

The spins give exp lamps, items, gold. Theres a chance to win 200M Gold, which on some weekends, is doubled to 400,000,000 GP. Another way to win is to sit in the Grand Exchange all day spamming: FLOWRZ FLOWRZ x2 ANY1 WANT TO H/C x2 DOOBLIN MONIEZ!!!! NO SCAM PROMIZE!!!! |
