no it's because 90% of people can't live without games or put in the effort to learn how to use linux if linux is bad then why are big dogs like CERN and like every web hosting site using it |

but it gives you complete control over the desktop environment and you can update a rolling release optionally whenever you want and it's free and uses like 150mb memory while idle compared to windows' 1gb and mac's 300mb and it's super portable so you can install it on a flash drive and it's open source and it's unix based and it uses ext4 file system not that dumb ntfs and it doesn't pollute your computer with dlls and it fragments less because of ext4 and it runs on everything even car stereo systems

and there are open source alternatives to almost everything and an increasing number of proprietary software vendors like skipe and steam are porting to linux and even if that isn't enough you can dual boot it because it doesn't take over your boot loader like windows and mac or you could use wine to emulate windows for free

and with proper knowledge you can iron out and make your own fixes for almost any bug just like in mac and windows and you can even compile an operating system specifically for your hardware with gentoo or arch or crux

and if you don't trust it much you can even install it pro a USB drive like i said earlier and this also allows you to basically carry your entire system and files with you in your pocket and you can plug it into any computer you find and boot from it

and it's true that it gets like almost no viruses except trojans which are the user's fault anyway because it's open source so people spend time finding every flaw in the system and uploading patches to be downloaded and installed by linux users to fix the flaw by just typing a simple bash line or clicking an update button
