Like, some sort of game where the players fight off genetic algorithmly evolving monsters, and the ones that survive the longest get their attributes averaged for the next generation with a bit of randomness, and it's a game to see how long before the players can't beat them?

| What would be more interesting would be fully equipped pseudo-cells in the form of (0.2, 0.2, 0.2) sized cubes that actually grow into monsters and think on their own... |

Is Lua even powerful enough to do that without lagging?

Yes. If you don't use loops.

Wouldn't you start with one part and then split it off into another part and then make them grow until they are the correct size and then do the same again?
(I know what I am on about, although I've probably explained it poorly) |

| Upquark made something where there are multiple cubes which flash to communicate with eachother. I guess I'll have a go at making a genetic algorithm. |

| Actually, I was thinking of doing this. However, the randomly generated evolutions would take a long to even make adequate. |

| What about traits and all that goodie genetic stuff? Like a whole set of maybe 30 traits and run the calculations. |

This sounds like a pretty nice idea.
In my brain It instantly reminds me of Minecraft slimes even though its not exactly how its like. |

| Well it can't be no where near as complex as real life, because your going to have to have thousands of organisms of your given species where very small mutations are formed at random, and having the fittest survived, but it sounds decent otherwise. |
